Mar 25, 2015 His potential is dope and he has a very aggressive, west coast vibe. Could see him making street anthems
Mar 25, 2015 Say it ain't so. J Cole Nation has infiltrated one of our own. @BigCountry is a rogue agent. I should peep this to broaden my horizons I suppose. I'll get back to you.
Mar 25, 2015 The hate is real I've heard good things about this album but haven't checked it out yet. Thanks for the reminder Big Country. I'll listen to it in the next days and get back
Mar 25, 2015 7.5/10 One of his biggest strong suits is definitely his hook game. He can craft a catchy tune. Rapping is real good too, but he definitely has some growing to do as an artist. This is a great debut project tho. Cole went in on the last track, that raised my rating at least .25 extra points. lol
Mar 25, 2015 8/10 This n----- cozz is gonna be the future cole but not a fa----. His live performance was good but nobody knew him so it s----d. His stamina wasn't good, coon was getting tired fast so when he talks about p----, take it with a grain of salt.
Mar 25, 2015 I've never listened to him before, I'll try to listen to it before the next album is posted though.
Mar 25, 2015 7.5/10. Cozz shows so much potential and hunger on this tape. It's pretty d--- good being this is his first tape. Production compliments his styles well. A diamond in the rough, hopefully he is polished probably in his career.
Mar 26, 2015 8.5/10 . one of my favorite releases of last year . for a 20 year old who up to the point had only been rapping for 10 months, it's a very impressive debut. very aggressive delivery capable of making street anthems, but also a raw storytelling ability that will only grow that is showcased on songs like western ave. slaves .
Mar 26, 2015 7.7/10. I didn't know this guy was a J.Cole affiliate and it's probably why I gave him a shot, lol. Very happy I did, at first seemed like a regular street rapper and I guess it's kind of true, there's nothing particularly refreshing about him but the album had nice production very fitting to his voice and style which resulted in an album that doesn't drag on and has good replay value.
Mar 26, 2015 Listened to this one time when I was having a bad day..didn't think much about it but itllll give it another shot and be back with a rating
Mar 26, 2015 "Rules: 1. Bold your rating so it's easier for me to see. 2. Don't rate an album if you haven't listened to it at least a few times. 3. I won't count your rating if you don't write a blurb. 4. Feel free to nominate an album you want to see rated by sectioneighty."
Mar 28, 2015 Very good album. Aggressive street rap with some necessary introspection. He sounds confident and the subtle production compliments him well. Strong delivery, a few different flows and decent writing. Dreams is an engaging opener, and he manages to keep the album on a high standard, for the most part. 7/10, will listen again
Apr 4, 2015 I'm gonna go 7.5/10. The album is short and sweet, and Cozz is hungry and engaging. All-in-all a solid debut (not sure if it's an album or mixtape) that showcases a lot of skill/potential. Any suggestions for the next album? If not, I'll figure something out and post in a few hours.
Apr 4, 2015 WAR by Pharoahe Monch maybe? He's a great rapper to get into, it's a recent project (2011) and it might be more interesting than Internat Affairs or Desire that would probably score higher. PTSD would work too. Or something by Brother Ali or Eyedea? I've been listneing to them both quite a lot recently. Or iMayday!'s debut Take Me To Your Leader (2012). They're the only rappers from Strange that I like (well them and Murs, but he signed very recently so he doesn't really count) and I don't know what everyone thinks about them, I like this album though idk I'm in for something new like last time as well
Apr 6, 2015 The only pharoahe monch albums I've listened to are The Twelfth Dynasty and Desire...never listened to Eyedea at all and it's been awhile since I've heard any Brother Ali album. I'm down to do one of those next round if people are interested and can choose one to be rated...maybe I'll make a poll. I'm gonna do one I'm familiar with this round because I'm lazy. Based upon 10 ratings, section eight gives Cozz & Effect a 7.6 [4/6/15] The Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde @Writers @Flacko @Meero @Fire Squad @Five Star @Pixel @Tha Story @Acid Sav @Rick C @BroadStBully2 @Piiizzy @WPG @Bleed @Radeem @Term-X @Creation @Gamba Mamba @Maad City @sindy @Griff @Grimace @Raziel @Dew @Swizz @Fazers @Jet @Olorin @Winter @poop dogg @Joshua Smoses @Jay @Rodamon @Lamont @LukeS80 @JCinator @neomerge @Kvp187 @Criza @GKBS
Apr 7, 2015 I like this album very much. It's probably one of the most fun rap albums I've listened to (and probably they had fun recording it too). Basically the Pharcyde were kids who made prank calls, had their first sex experiences with their schoolmates' mothers, made a song with "yo mama" jokes and another one about smoking weed and other stupid s--- that we did with our friends when we were their age and laughed about them. They're often reckless, not only with their deliveries and flows but also with their lyrics; some of the s--- they say are f----- up, but they manage to mask it with their humour quite well, and if they were troubled it didn't really matter because they laughed it off and "eveyrthing is ok". Same thing they did with the more serious moments of the record (like the song "Officer" which narrates their troubles with the law) where they mixed their social/self-awareness with goofy lyrics. The production is handled by J-Swift who does a good job with his jazzy beats, which blend well with the 4 mc's unique voices. Overall a very entertaining and honest album, similar to 93 'til Infinity in a few ways imo. 8.5/10 @BigCountry I'm pretty sure that your mentions didn't work, unless I missed the notification.
