Nov 1, 2015 Glad you used the right album artwork. The alternate one is boring. This is one of my favorite records and I champion it pretty regularly. Will definitely relisten and post some thoughts. Here are links (1, 2) to the no noDJ version for those who want to check it out.
Nov 1, 2015 That's the one I've always had, never even saw the boring one til I searched just now, it's so trash. The album art I posted is honestly one of my favorite covers of the past five years. Anyway this is one of those albums that gets better every time I listen. On My Soul is a permabanger. @Narsh I'd like to hear more thoughts from you.
Nov 1, 2015 I just realized that I mostly know it through its thumbnail because that's how it appears when I play it on something. You can't even really make out the detail that way, but I still love it somehow. What a time to be alive.
Nov 2, 2015 I feel exactly the same. I could listen to these eight bars forever. His flow > > > > > > "On my soul in the field, 'member plain nights Totin' pipes, trappin' sellin' white trynna get it right Came straight from the block now I'm on the mic Cockroaches all in the trap, used too spend the night Yeah n----- I need the money, f--- fame Ima' stay the same, never change I be with the g---, sippin' purple lean, switchin' lanes 30's in they hands, so don't run up on this Range, jewels run up in yo' brain boy"
Nov 2, 2015 8.7/10 Firstly a huge thanks to @Charlie Strangelove for putting me on to this record. I've kept this in steady rotation since my first listen a couple of months ago since its just that good. Lil Herb is a remarkable rapper with a powerful voice & charisma that keeps you glued to your speakers and backed by excellent production he paints a vivid picture of the hostile environment in Chiraq. He's a breathe of fresh air in the competitive Chicago rap scene and if BLIK is any indication, he is only going to get better with time.
Nov 2, 2015 I need to sit down and listen to him soon. I think WPG posted a tape by him a month or so ago which I really enjoyed that I'm yet to re-listen to.
Nov 3, 2015 Favourite tracks: At the Light, Fight or Flight, 4 Min of h--- Pt 3, Mamma I'm Sorry, On My Soul, Still f----- Up, Love 2 Stunt, Write Your Name d--- that was a great listen! So much energy and aggression. The whole tape had some anthem-like production and momentum. I love Herbo's mic presence. I'm not sure who he reminds me of to be honest but I love it! I'll refrain from giving a rating for now. Will listen to a few more times before I s---t out a score. I've been sleeping on Herbo for too long.
Nov 3, 2015 @BigCountry Add me to the mentions please. I downloaded this a while back but didn't enjoy like everyone else has. I've listened to it as a whole twice. I'm not sure what it is, but almost none of the tracks really clicked with me. I really enjoyed Mamma I'm Sorry though. Gonna refrain from giving it a score cause I've yet to give it enough play time.

Nov 3, 2015 Like @Lamont said it's better. BLIK is fantastic as well, but Fazoland has the edge for me. I'll post my rating tonight. Hoping to get a rating and more thoughts from @Charlie Strangelove @WPG @Narsh @Lamont etc, don't want this classic to go unloved.
Nov 3, 2015 Lil Herb is one of the best rappers rn. How talent like this gets overlooked simply due to the stigma associated with drill, or trap, or whatever the genre may be, really is mind boggling. "and thats only the intro" Every song feels like a moment in time encapsulated. It's feverish and strained -- but always deliberate. So much unfiltered clarity from such a young guy. He's proven to be more than nimble with his flow, even if his content becomes one note for some. And even if his content is somehow "one note," he still shows signs of being a more than capable writer. The act of emoting about x topic in an infinite number of ways is the epitome of being a great writer, after all. And he's far from one note as far as the emotional arcs on this tape are concerned. "Im just giving you the real, cause Im from Hollywood or Beverly Hills...it's hard for a young black n----- like myself when the police compare one's self with...everybody else. So that means if you yourself they think you're everybody else." Welcome to Fazoland isn't a cry to be saved, it's an open invitation to take the lifestyle slowly being simultaneously glamorized and invalidated by the media, for a test run -- if you can stomach it. Fazoland finds its comfort in being universally accessible to those it's intended to empower, but I personally want to see Herb keep digging deeper and laying more of his own personal struggle on wax. He can do it. There are moments of this throughout the tape, for sure, but Herb is quick to live in the punchline driven/nonspecific rapping when given the chance. Tracks like "4 minutes in h--- pt. 3" find a great balance between both though. But "Mama I'm Sorry" is better, in my opinion. "Tryina flip an ounce into a phantom" 8.5/10
Nov 3, 2015 meh idk what i was tryina say here to be honest...that like...the tape is too "generic" at times. but its really not. and if it is its inconsequential besides tracks like "mama im sorry"
