Jan 6, 2016 Imma give it an 8/10. WTT could've easily ended up being a let-down due to overhype, but that didn't happen, it lived up to the expectations quality-wise, it's the best result you could've expected from a Ye x Jay collab. The album was just plain dope in every aspect, imo. The only downsides i noticed, were that Ye & Jay, at times, had some d--- weak verses & some d--- weak lyrics. But for the most part, they delivered.
Jan 6, 2016 Replacing a few of regular tracks with a few of the bonus tracks and this could have been near the top of both of their catalogues...though I do kinda like how they play out as an "encore" after the silence and then interlude on the last track. I've always liked how this album kinda played out as a lavish "show" with the interludes. There's a few missteps in sequencing/track choice that bring it down a bit, but the highs are high enough that they more than make up for it. Luxury rap, the Hermes of verses Sophisticated ignorance, write my curses in cursive 8/10
Jan 7, 2016 BALL SO HARD! Man I don't think that I could give it anything higher than an 8/10. There is a lot of individual brilliance on this album. Songs like No Church in the Wild, n----s in Paris and Otis stood out from the others for me. There are a couple of songs where I thought some of the bonus tracks should've easily replaced it, but overall it was a solid project. A lot of decent songs. Jay-Z and Kanye have great chemistry together. I love Otis, Kanye just knows how to sample Otis Redding's voice into his songs, he did it really well with Gone on Late Registration which is one of my favourite tracks on that album along with Otis on WTT. I also thought Frank Ocean killed it on this album. NIP is a classic song, God d--- this song was played everywhere. Both Kanye and Jay-Z have made better projects individually but this was still fun to listen and I'm glad this happened.
Jan 7, 2016 Also am I alone thinking New Day >>> Murder To Excellence d--- I can't wait till Saint West listens to New Day
Jan 7, 2016 I'll give this another day before we tally up the scores and move on to another album. Last call guys!
Jan 7, 2016 Honestly don't like the album. Like at all. Jay hasn't really got my attention since the black album. I'm not going to say WTT is bad, it's just not for me.
Jan 8, 2016 Based on 14 scores, SectionEighty gives WTT a rating of 7.5/10 Interesting but fair score for one of the most significant rap projects in recent memory, the hype and anticipation was out of this world. For the next installment were gonna go with... Lupe Fiasco's The Cool This was another project that seems to get a lot of different answers depending on who you ask. For some it's a decent follow-up to others it's even better than Food & Liquor. As usual feel free to give a rating as well as a small blurb or review of the project @RateThisAlbum .
Jan 8, 2016 Forgot to give WTT a score, would've given it a 7/10. The Cool on the other hand. Well this was legitimately the first hip-hop album I had on my laptop. So many great songs and Lupe was in his prime. I love the mix of songs throughout the album. Songs that continue the MYH saga (Streets On Fire, The Coolest, Superstar, The Die, Put You On Game), the emotional songs (Intruder Alert, Hip Hop Saved My Life) and just great cuts like Gold Watch, Hi-Definition and Paris, Tokyo. I love this album and I do indeed think it's better than F&L. 8.7/10 for me.
Jan 8, 2016 Imma give The Cool a 10/10 Even though it's not a full concept album (since the story is only covered in a few tracks) it's still a very cohesive, well-rounded piece of work, when it comes to substance. Production is incredible too, sonically the album feels like a big film score. Every aspect of this album was flawless, imo. The Cool is a perfect piece of work, it's easily my favorite Lupe project.
Jan 8, 2016 His breath control on The Cool is a lot better compared to F&L where it felt like he was having an asthma attack after every bar.
Jan 8, 2016 Oh yeah, i noticed that. On F&L, the gasps were soooo apparent, & then when you hear The Cool, they're virtually gone. He definitely improved himself there.
Jan 9, 2016 I'd give it an 8/10 First Lupe album I heard, and nearly perfect. There's a few songs I can't get into.
