Jan 9, 2016 8.4/10 Just popped the cd back in since I haven't heard The Cool in what felt like forever, considering he came out the gate flying with F&L this album had a lot to live up to. The first half of this album is simply sublime, from the intro till Little Weapon I have zero complaints the songs are well-constructed and I still love the content. What keeps me from rating this higher is that it does lose steam towards the end, Lupe just gets less interesting imo. Anyways Paris, Tokyo still a GOAT song and this album still is great in my books.
Jan 13, 2016 Based on 7 scores, Section Eighty gives The Cool a 8.6/10 Glad to see people rate it so highly, no matter how batshit crazy he might be these days I'll always hold him in high regard for his first two stellar albums. Speaking of classics for this next installment... Outkast's Stankonia Another seminal project in their legendary careers. Right after they dropped the immaculate Aquemini they decided to once again switch up their style and deliver one of the most important projects in the genre right at the turn of the new millennium. Feel free to post a rating along with a small blurb or review. @RateThisAlbum
Jan 13, 2016 d--- forgot to post about the cool. I love that album. Ill def do stankonia tomorrow. Super dope picks btw @Fire Squad
Jan 13, 2016 I do want to shout-out my good friend @Ordinary Joel for helping me out with this, those mod powers really come through
Jan 13, 2016 Great selection btw I love this album. Been a while since I've listened to it though so I'll give it a spin over the next few days in between my Beatles binge and then I'll give a rating.
Jan 14, 2016 Ah, Stankonia. I like the songwriting, energy, production, & lyricism on every track. ALL the tracks have heavy replay value to me. The album as a whole is very well-structured, very cohesive, all the tracks flow nicely together, & the skits do well as breaks between tracks. I really can't find a single con or take-away. Stankonia is flawless, imo. Imma give it a 10/10.
Jan 14, 2016 Stankonia's impact is absolutely undeniable and the highs of this project are marvelous but as a whole it is probably my least fav Outkast album (aside from Idlewild) It just aged like milk 5.5-6/10
Jan 14, 2016 not sure how i'd rate this, ive never actually been able to sit through this all the way, but what I have heard from it was wonderful.
Jan 14, 2016 Well, I already kinda made up my mind about this one but wanna give it one more spin before ı actually rate it... EDIT: Well, I've never been a huge fan of Outkast and their style but still Stankonia was a very unique work especially when u consider it has released in 2000. Production is really great and songs are usually easy to listen to and catchy. Good album in overall. Even though I'm not a fan of the style much and there are albums that I think waayyy more better than this, I don't wanna give my rating by comparing it to some of my fav albums. It''d be more fair to take the album is it is and... 7,5/10
Jan 14, 2016 Stankonia may sound dated-ish but it influenced a lot of the rap records out there with it's creativeness and willingness to defy trends. Only flaw, too many skits. 8.0/10
Jan 14, 2016 Some really surprising scores for a Kast album Anyways this is a 9.0/10 for me. I find that the skits sort of take away the energy but the tracks are all really special, if you thought they were experimental before than this one really pushed a lot of boundaries without compromising quality. Bombs Over Baghdad alone consolidates this album as a classic. To further elaborate on its relevance, this album helped elevate hip-hop (Atlanta especially) to more mainstream recognition; it was the right album at the right time it's very fitting that 3Stacks said when they won the album of the year grammy for SB/TLB "Stakonia's not Outkast's first album".
Jan 15, 2016 I'll probably give this more time till 2.0 drops and move on to the next. Feel like bumping my score up now that I can't get this record out of my rotation
Jan 15, 2016 I'm going to give this album an 8/10. I don't mind the Stanklove at all. Although it doesn't seem to be a favourite upon Outkast fans, it's definitely understandable because Outkast do have a great discography, however Stankonia was the album that elevated their popularity. Despite all the interludes that almost cover up half of the tracklist, there are still quite a few great songs on this album. Ms. Jackson is an absolute classic and is certainly one of my favourite songs by Outkast ever, you don't have to be a Hip-Hop fan to know that song. And you can't forget songs like BOB, So Fresh, So Clean and Snappin & Trappin, the first half of the album starts off really strongly. Not their best album, but still a solid project nevertheless.
Jan 19, 2016 Based on 7 scores, Section Eighty (2.0) gives Stankonia a 7.6/10 Something doesn't feel right about that score but everyone put up valid and reasonable opinions. Either way I don't think anyone can argue that it is a very welcome and ambitious addition to their legendary catalog. So next up we have... Future's Pluto Back to back Dungeon Family projects let's go! Given how we have a growing fan-base of his on here, let's take a look back at his first & wildly popular retail album. This album spawned several hit singles and a couple cult classics so feel free to give a score along with a small blurb/review. @RateThisAlbum
