Jan 24, 2016 A fantastic album, top-notch production, TIP was at his most poignant. The album is a solid 8.
Jan 24, 2016 8.5/10 The one thing that always struck me about this album was how different T.I was. He was always a very confident MC,I mean s--- he called himself the King Of The South; on Trap Muzik he was this brutally honest guy that still was stuck on the streets and later on Urban Legend he was hungry for the top spot and was knocking on the door to super-stardom. Whatever your stance is if he is the King or not, he makes it sound like he is the top dog in hip-hop on this one. His delivery was as poised as ever, the production is ridiculous and he tried out a lot of new flows that he pulled off quite well. Some of his best individual songs are on here, What You Know still sounds as fresh as if it came out yesterday. There are just a few dull tracks and some sloppy sequencing towards the end but other than that it's a fantastic project.
Jan 24, 2016 Classic. Magnum Opus. What more needs to be said? Get chills every time I listen or even think about this album.
Jan 24, 2016 I haven't listened to this since high school so I'll need to give it another spin. Great album though.
Jan 24, 2016 9.5/10 Isn't his best album but he was at his peak as far as ability goes. Front Back is my favorite T.I song oat
Jan 25, 2016 TI was swaggin on this whole album, firing at all cylinders, dude f---ing delivered. & that production.... oh lord that production. It's just dope beat after dope beat from A-list producers (Swizz Beatz, Just Blaze, Neptunes, etc.) when they were all poppin. f---ing amazing album overall, perfectly represents TI's style, King is the dictionary definition of TI tbh. It's some Magnum Opus s---. His 2nd best work imo. 9/10
Jan 28, 2016 Imma give this a day or two and then we'll move on to the next one. Don't feel like spamming the tag but I wanna see if there are still any left over thoughts on this personal favorite.
Jan 28, 2016 Gonna pass on this week cause I'm not too familiar with it. I agree that the intro track is dope af. Top Back and What You Know are classics imo and still sound great today. Why You Wanna was a cool single too. Other than that, I remember not really enjoying the project when I listened to it a couple years back and haven't revisited it since unfortunately.
Jan 29, 2016 Based on 7 scores, Section Eighty gives King a 8.5 Wow I'm really glad to see an overwhelming positive feedback for King, in a vacuum it's in my top 10 favorite albums and was the 2nd CD I ever bought. 2006 was the year of T.I and this album helped cement his status as a superstar and eventually a rap legend. Next up we have... Action Bronson's Blue Chips 2 I absolutely love this one and I strongly encourage anyone that hasn't listened to it go check it out right away. A nice reminder that New York rap still can drop a gem today, with Bronson being in the forefront. As always feel free to give your score along with a few thoughts/a blurb or a review. @RateThisAlbum
Jan 29, 2016 Oh s---, i haven't even heard, or heard of this next album. I'll give it a listen & mini write-up soon though.
Jan 29, 2016 If I'm remembering correctly I gave it a 4/10 Bronson has yet to put out a song that I'd want to listen to more than once.
Jan 29, 2016 I might revisit this later and see if it changes. Oh, and if you ever need a break from making these weekly album discussions, I'd be more than happy to take over for a bit. I got a couple albums in mind that I'd like to know the general forum consensus of tbh.
Jan 29, 2016 Actually yeah I was intending after this one to let someone else have a go and we can create some kind of rotation and keep this going. Like I said before I don't care if we get a lot or a few people participating I just want to keep this going.
Jan 29, 2016 Sounds good. Let me know when I should post the next album, and I'll have a post ready by then.
