This s---'s ten years old? Wow. Was just thinking how good this still is.

    Candy Shop
    Outta Control
    Get In My Car
    A Baltimore Love Thing
    Ryder Music
    Disco Inferno
    Just A Lil Bit
    Position Of Power
    God Gave Me Style

So many good songs. Some smooth a--- tracks on this project. Its a great album. Would have to say its a classic as well being a 50 Stan. Def his second best. I still remember listening to the CD on the bus on the way to school in middle school.

Nice read, brought back memories. Hard to believe it' has been a decade. I was a senior in high school. At first I didn't care for the album and tossed it aside. I remember that Jada diss track with the line about his cd just being weed plate. But it has gotten better with time.

'Piggy Bank' is the only track I still play from that album, it's a weak Nas diss but the track itself is dope af.

As great as i think Massacre is, i thought Street King Immortal was slated to be better than it judging by the original singles we heard from it. New Day, My Life, Outlaw, Major Distribution, We Up, and Warning You were all good to great songs.

I'm really interested to see how good SKI ends up being now. I really hope he gets that passion for music back like he had for Get Rich/Massacre

I would really even argue that he didn't fall off as far as relevance goes. Don't get me wrong certainly is no longer relevant in music but the guy was completely blackballed by the industry. I mean I guess it was his fault for creating so many enemies but he couldn't put out songs he wanted much less albums. Jimmy Iovine was losing money just to spite 50. Remember when BISD leaked 2 months early? A leak that early is unheard of and Jimmy was the one responsible for that. If anything I applaud him for keeping himself as relevant as he has without releasing any real music. 50's business acumen>>>>>

Still my favorite rap song from last year...

Yup, you're right. 50 put it best when he explained the way the industry works, something most of us don't understand.

You have two artists, one is on the old deal (which 50 and anyone in that era has), and one is on the new 360 deal. If you instead invest in the new artist, the potential for gain is a lot higher. Even if the new artist moves less units, the margins and the ROI is higher.

There are only a very select few artists from 50 Cent's era or earlier that continue to be pushed by major labels. Lil Wayne, Eminem, Kanye West and maybe a few others I'm forgetting. Labels aren't dumping money in former powerhouses like T.I., Game, Fab, Ludacris etc. Hov put himself in a good position with the Rocnation deal, so that's an entirely different story.

But the case of 50 Cent, you have an artist that not only suffered what the aforementioned artists did, he was blackballed as well. Still he persevered, and as I stated earlier, he's only a hit away.

One smash single, and he's back in a great place. The ability hasn't left as you showed with Winners Circle, or I did with the tracks I posted a page ago.

Another thing with 50 Cent is, like he says, no number is a good number for him anymore. 50 Cent was bigger than any artist in rap, save maybe Eminem. He's now grouped with artists like T.I and Game, but what would be a good first week for them is a failure for someone like 50.

Take Fab for example, with the Young OG Project. 71k copies is a great first week for him, but if 50 did that, that would be a flop. Honestly, 150k first week might be a flop for 50 as well - people easily forget that he's an indie artist now.

And anyone who needs a reminder of what a label can do for you, just take a look at how far they too Kendrick Lamar's 'i'. The NBA licensed that joint b.

Very well written, @BigCountry. I remember right after this came out in '05, I was working the Wendy's drive-thru as a kid. I was blasting it near closing hours and a drive-thru customer came through at like 1am telling me how he has the album too and loves it.

Sadly I never heard a full 50 Cent album after this one, having jumped on the Kanye bandwagon during the 50 vs Kanye sales battle of '07. I will have to go re-listen now though. :)

I also still have The Massacre bonus edition (somewhere in a box probs) where 50 made a music video for each track. They're all so s-----y and low budget, I remember being very disappointed that I bought this CD for a second time for that.

Now I'm all nostalgic for Banks' first album, Buck's first album, and the G-Unit album too

I listened to the Breakfast Club interview. 50 was saying that after the Vitamin water Interscope wanted to restructure 50's & G Unit's deals to 360. Of course 50 wouldn't allow that & thats what I believe what started the problems with Interscope & 50. Yayo & Banks even got an advance for there 2nd albums that never came out on Interscope.

It's funny when this dropped alot of people were like :westbrook2:but now 10 years, after 50's music changed(well music overall has changed since then) that it's a potential classic from him. I always loved this album when it first dropped minus a few cuts(Gatman, Build You Up, So Amazing, Candy Shop). People always said it's no GRODT, which is true, to me GRODT was his struggle to get in the rap game after being shot, like an all or nothing thing that's why it was straight forward and in your face, but once he finally did get through and made a huge impact that's when The Massacre came to k--- the rap game that blackballed him. Idk, maybe I'm reacting since I'm a big fan, but that's how I see it.

That was part of it but I think when he started publicly bad mouthing Jimmy and being confrontational with him in person... I think that's when Jimmy made it personal.

That was a great interview btw. That stuff about Sugetting wanting to k--- Dre to keep Tupac around was kind of fascinating.

d---! I remember when this came out, 50 said he might die before the release of this album because of his beef with other rappers.
Also this was his first album where he made a music video for every track. I really liked that idea, 50 is a real innovator.
