Mar 9, 2015 Ouch really? If it came out a few months before Encore I guess that takes away from it a bit.. or I guess the scenario still works. He reached the peak, did the verse saying he's bored. Released Encore. Makes sense I suppose.
Mar 9, 2015 I'll explain it with out being a c---- to you. I will agre that in terms of technical rhyming ability and flow. Rap God, is probably the best we've heard Eminem in a while. The problem for most people though, is that in other parts he's lacking. Where as back when he made TES/SSLP/MMLP He had the full package and he was consistent. Yes his flow/delivery and technical ability probably has improved since those days. But his content lacks substance. To further expand, here's an example; Stan is a song that tells a story about an obsessed fan. Rap God is a song that has a lot of words that rhyme and has no consistent story or theme apart from "look at my skills"
Mar 9, 2015 To be fair, I'd say if you had a song called "Rap God" and didn't show off your rap abilities, you would be a moron. Furthermore, I'd argue Rap God does have a theme, which would be a summarized version of his rap career and skills… but then again that's what the entirety of MMLP2 is. Other than that, Yea. I gotta say tho, other rappers rap about a lot of nothing. Eminem raps about how he's a good rapper. Atleast it's something. New Eminem does have that going for him. I prefer that, than the "Lil Wayne" style freestyle rapping we get nowadays. Btw SFTW2 is still dope.
Mar 9, 2015 His verse on Akon's "Smack That" is when you can start to hear his sound change and that was in 2006 around re-up. His appearance even began to change. Drugs really f----- him up. I dont what it was about TES but everything he said just sounded so clear and good. I dont know if its just because im a big em fan and listened to his s--- so many times but you can clearly tell what song is from what era just from the sound. Every album going all the way back to Infinite sounds completey different, thats just me though. And by sound im just saying his voice, not flow, content, lyrics, etc. Not sure i can say the same for another artist
Mar 9, 2015 Agree with the content thing. I think wed all still like em a lot more if he had something to rap about lol. On the rare occasion he does (post hiatus) he's done pretty well (deja vu, going thru changes)
Mar 9, 2015 I got a question and it's totally off topic but was Lose Yourself recorded before The Eminem Show or after
