Mar 16, 2015 Not really, and certainly not with that word choice. You're friends with someone featured on the song...
Mar 16, 2015 if you think king kunta is relatively close to all day then i don't even really understand your perspective as a rap fan. how is kendrick's remotely close? and you read my review of all day, how much of the song's success did i attribute to allan?
Mar 16, 2015 How about you tell me what makes them so different.. And lets not get into some trite debate about being a "rap fan" - both songs have merits, I enjoy both. But it's not like one is Breathless, and the other's 300. Your review didn't really critically review the song, at least not in the sense that you acknowledged bias, or placed your praise in context. Isn't there an editorial obligation to mention your personal connection to one of the song's main contributors? Dunno, not sure I agree you can deride someone for objectively preferring King Kunta - for its bravado, funk influence, whatever - then fail to at least recognize intellectually that your judgment on All Day is clouded
Mar 16, 2015 @captain awesome the review did critically review the song, i'm sorry i didn't score each stem track out of ten. fact you think my judgment is "clouded" is insulting btw; my best friend in rap made a very, very good record last year that didn't crack my top 25 list. you'd be hard-pressed to find examples of bias in my critical work, up to and including "all day."
Mar 16, 2015 I can't bump my head to King Kunta. It's weird. Kendrick doesn't have the delivery/presence to effectively do what he was trying to do... and then the beat builds into something jarring. A g-funk bass line with super serious instrumentation is a strange juxtaposition. The melodies are nice, but on top of Kendrick's unconventional flow and his inability to write anything genuinely catchy, it just comes off as a terribly misguided track. My two cents dawgs Heard the song a few times and haven't had the chance to listen to the album yet.
Mar 16, 2015 Don't be offended, just being honest. My thoughts on how you've assessing All Day - a track from one of your favorite artists (fair?) and featuring someone you personally know - isn't a judgment on your body of work as a whole. And I'm not looking for a thumbs up approach either, please. Don't pigeonhole or distort my valid argument b/c you've overstated what makes All Day great. Didn't you say it's one of the best Kanye songs of the decade? I just don't see that, that's a very premature call imo. (And for that matter, I don't recall you defending that assertion rly)
Mar 16, 2015 Well your judgement is clouded. no1curr bout your underground rapper friends s--- song. King Kunta is better than all day, by miles. All Day has next to 0 replay value. It was on rotation for about a week, now it's just boring.
Mar 16, 2015 well the bias I see is that you went into Kanye's song wanting to like it, and went into kendrick's thinking hes "the least funkiest person alive" or whatever so theres that I went into both liking both artists, can explain why I think All Day is better, and why King Kunta is good in its own right. I guess what Im missing is your explanation of why King Kunta is bad. cut this s--- out lol saying all day has 0 replay value is the dumbest said so far in this thread if we're being 100% honest
Mar 16, 2015 lolll literally both my roommates just started dancing to king kunta, and one of them said the exact words "yo i can vibe so hard to this" still dying @ no one is nodding their heads to King Kunta
Mar 17, 2015 I've had the song on repeat at the gym since it leaked and right around "out the court woo woo... oh yeah f--- the judge!!!" I'll find somebody to glare at and intimidate. Every single time.
