Or because he understands the concepts behind progression and melodies in jazz, funk, & soul music and realizes that Kendrick and his camp pulled off something more musically technical than he and his camp have done before. Music can be objective when it comes to the actual structure, formula, substance of the music.

From a pure musical standpoint, this is his greatest accomplish to date.

So what? A good song has to have well executed concepts and lyrics, not only good musical arrangements. And more musical layers is not always better. I prefer the beat on the MAAD City track than most of the beats on this.

You preferring a beat has nothing to do with what we are talking about. Preferration is subjective so why are you bringing that into an objective-focused discussion?

& so Beethoven's Symphony is s-----y because there was no concept/lyrics?

No, don't get it twisted; saying that you're a jazz musician and this album has jazz and that's why this is best Kendrick's album objectively, like the other guy said, is what I was criticizing. The MAAD city beat is an exemple that a great project doesn't need to be super artistic with sophisticated jazz melodies. And if you have great jazz/soul/melodies but the concept or lyrics are not good, it is not a good song overrall, plain and simple, no need to bring up that Beethoven bs.

He didn't say this album is his best because it is jazz. No, music doesn't have to be sophisticated e.g. simple "happy birthday" melody/song one of most popular.

And hey, you're the one that said a song isn't good based just on its musical merits & it needs a concept/lyric and Beethoven is a relevant and justified argument to that statement. Plenty of music started out as just being music with no lyrics over top. Music can still be good if it's just music.

& btw Idk what you're trying to get at, but the concepts & lyrics on this album deliver anyways

If we're talking about Kendrick, a rapper, I think that lyrics and concepts are important. (Obviously lyrics are not important in classical music). He said that "it is objectively the best Kendrick album" because he is a "jazz musician and the composition of the album s----s on s80 and gkmc", so yeah, what about the lyrics and concepts?

I think that Kendrick delivers most of the time, but some lyrics fall short for what he tried to explain (and by the way, some choruses and beats too.)

like medici said, you can't make the difefrenc ebetween "personal tastes" and "judging quality"

some musicians even said they ain't enjoying this album but still aknowledge it as a 10/10 because they don't see any flaw in the composition /songwriting /music

Don't misinterpret me. I think this is a really strong effort, and I aknowledge the whole lot of work that has been put on this album. No denying of that. But I am still quite shocked from all these rave reviews. I think it's too early to say certain things. There are flaws in this album, but it looks like no critic dares to talk about it. Personally I can not make a real judgment of this album still, but I'm realizing that its replay value it's already decreasing. I've played GKMC since it came out until today.

replay value is subjective, it depends on what kind of music u listen to. Like I said, we're talking about the quality of the music, not our personal tastes.

I enjoy them both equally, but tpab is the better record (by far)

this album is twice as good as gkmc. it was made for people who listen to a wide variety of genres and expect a high level of quality and execution from their music.
