Mar 17, 2015 Heard J. Cole produced a track on Section 80, (HiiiPower still might be my favorite Kendrick song) so I listened to the tape and tbh, wasn't overly impressed with it, but then I heard OD shortly after and liked that a lot. Eventually Section 80 grew on me and then I started listening to his older stuff like the Kendrick Lamar EP and I also looked into the rest of TDE. Leading up to GKMC I was huge on TDE and was expecting a great album; his best work yet. Needless to say he didn't disappoint and look what we have now. Arguably 3 classic albums and somebody that'll go down as one of the GOATs.
Mar 17, 2015 Kendrick was being mentioned on message boards occasionally so I finally decided to YouTube him. Watched HiiiPower video. Watch ADHD. Downloaded Section.80. I was really big into The Roots discography at the time so it was an easy transition. Section.80 was probably my most listened to album in the fall of 2011.
Mar 17, 2015 Can't remember. I think smush from jcf /jcn told me about him. Probably around early 2010 I found him
Mar 17, 2015 Had Overly Dedicated in a time when I downloaded everything and anything Hip Hop related, it didn't get many spins apart from Barbed Wire. Fast forward to 2011, HiiiPoWeR dropped, from then on he was reinvented in my eyes..saw him as the second coming. Copped Kendrick Lamar EP and his rare tracks, then Section 80 was released and he was certified as 'the one'. On J. Cole Nation, before GKMC dropped I said he would be bigger than Cole and the entire forum laughed at that thought.
Mar 17, 2015 Had Rigamortis, Monster, Rolling Stone, HiiiPower, Ronald Raegan Era, and ADHD on a CD at some point in high school. Swimming Pools and his countless features got big freshman year of college. Heard about ScHoolboy and Jay Rock before him tbh.
Mar 18, 2015 Seen him in XXL freshman 2011 before section 80 released, so I downloaded O.D. Loved it. A couple months later S80 released and I was hooked, been spreading the gospel of Kendrick ever since. Hahaha
Mar 18, 2015 I heard Swimming Pools and dismissed him because all I heard was the hook, hated his feature verse on f---ing Problems, and couldn't stand that dudes was calling him the second coming of rap. Then I heard him on some of Schoolboy'a songs (was/am a bigger Q fan than Kenny) and decided to give this "classic" GKMC a shot. Took me a few listens to really "get" it
Mar 18, 2015 ^This I was 15 at the time and never really gave no names a go, but he got me hooked. It was around the time he released S80 as well
Mar 18, 2015 Yeah, heard him on The City too. Then I fell in love with Look out for Detox and I've been a fan ever since.
Mar 18, 2015 Pretty sure that's what I heard first, I know I was anticipating section.80 before it came out.
Mar 18, 2015 f---ing this song's beat gets me chilled every f---ing time. But I heard of Kendrick after hearing about Ab-Soul, way back when. Then I got into the rest of the TDE camp too.
