Mar 22, 2015 "(CNSNews.com) – Seventy percent of American males between the ages of 20 and 34 are not married, and many live in a state of “perpetual adolescence” with ominous consequences for the nation’s future, says Janice Shaw Crouse, author of “Marriage Matters.” “Far too many young men have failed to make a normal progression into adult roles of responsibility and self-sufficiency, roles generally associated with marriage and fatherhood,” Crouse, the former executive director of the Beverly LaHaye Institute, wrote in a recent Washington Times oped. The high percentage of bachelors means bleak prospects for millions of young women who dream about a wedding day that may never come. “It’s very, very depressing,” Crouse told CNSNews.com. “They’re not understanding how important it is for the culture, for society, for the strength of the nation to have strong families.” cnsnews.com/news/article/barbara-hollingsworth/bachelor-nation-70-men-aged-20-34-are-not-married
Mar 22, 2015 The word bachelor here is being used to sensationalize the story. I feel like a rather large percentage of the 70% are probably divorced, engaged, or in a relationship. Another large percentage probably has 1+ child. The article instead chooses to paint a picture of a majority American men as lazy adolescents on their mama's couch.
Mar 23, 2015 This has to do with an increase in women needing to "experience life" (f--- and party) before finally settling down at 30, and men are slowly realizing they can get laid consistently without marrying. The risks of marriage vastly outweigh the benefits. Unless you want to start a family immediately, or you're a politician who needs to establish marriage to gain respect, there is no point in tying the knot in 2015.
Mar 23, 2015 Fun fact: If you're married and your wife is banging another guy and you have proof you most likely still have to pay alimony to her which is ridiculous. We're living in a time where divorce is at a all time high. This isn't the 50s, women are independent, can work and take selfies in yoga pants and post it online to feel validated when their husband is being a d-ck. People get married way to early and social media doesn't help. Wrap it up fellas
Aug 6, 2015 plus once you get married, you lose friends and/or friendships lessen significantly. one of the few good friends i have....he's been married for 3 years now and he's only 26. his job is very demanding and when he's not doing that he's hanging with his wife. i can't even remember the last time we chilled, s--- sucks
Aug 6, 2015 Marriage statistics: There is a 50% chance of the marriage ending in divorce There is a 100% chance the woman will get EVERYTHING in the divorce
Aug 6, 2015 I have But what woman would pass up the chance to take all of a man's possessions? :Hornswaggle Pointing 2:
Aug 6, 2015 societal brainwashing has quite a big influence on the decisions people make. in other words, people often get caught up in thinking they should do something because everyone else is doing it/does it don't get me wrong, people should get married if that's what their heart desires........but do it because you really want to do it.............not because everyone else is doing it
Aug 6, 2015 My friend's cousin is getting married and he's my age. Pretty big commitment if you ask me but eh, more power to him if he thinks he's found a suitable partner.
Aug 6, 2015 Want to get married by 22, have kids by 25. My parents had my brother at 21 and me at 25, so they're very young. It's awesome having young parents that can relate to you and stuff.
Aug 6, 2015 the thing is....most people probably aren't established when they're only 21 years old. in other worlds, they aren't in a position (financially) to support a kid. i mean, how many people by 21 years of age are making good money? probably very few. when you're 21....that's just a few years out of high school. i think that's why it makes more sense to wait until you're a bit older before having kids
Aug 6, 2015 Some of the posts here are VERY cringy. I'm all for not rushing into a marriage (been dating my gf for roughly 5 years), but there's obvious emotional benefits to tying the knot.
Aug 6, 2015 ^All jokes aside I do believe if you do it at the right age and you know for sure that you really love the person you are with, then getting married is great. Sadly, too many people get married at the wrong time for the wrong reasons. Reasons like everybody around them is doing it, or that society has said that getting married has to be on your life's to do list.
