Mar 29, 2015 Just caught up reading this thread, gonna go ahead and drop my thoughts. For Free is a track that I'd probably skip if I wasn't listening to the album whole or if I was just playing on shuffle but it's essential to the album itself. I like the whole almost spoken word style Kendrick takes with this track. His fast paced delivery, basically spazzing out at Uncle Sam, telling him that he refuses to be taken advantage of or "pimped" because "this d-ck aint freeeee". Technically, Kendrick was able to really show off his ability here (Emimem take notes) and the interlude served its purpose transitioning from Wesley's Theory. 7.5/10 I remembered when King Kunta leaked, I was sooooo tempted to give it a spin but thankfully @Koolo & @BigCountry convinced me not too. I'm really glad I didn't because listening to this track in context of the album for the first time was a great experience that I don't think I would of had, had I just listened to it when it leaked. For starters, the production on this track is phenominal, the beat really builds up from start to finish and it's really hard hitting. I love the funk vibe this track has, honestly makes me want to get up and dance every time it comes on. Kendrick is great with his performance as well, he's aggressive, braggadocios, hungry. On an album that's full of a bunch of layed back type of instrumentals, King Kunta really sticks out and I really like that about this song. 8.5/10

Apr 7, 2015 Yo, add me to the list of mentions. Kunta is definitely a 10/10 for me. It's been my most played song so far (even though I know there are better ones on the album). It's just so d--- infectious. It really reminds me of "Without You" actually, but a much better, more funk-infused version. I don't know, I dig it.
