Mar 29, 2015 Drake released a project full of below average to completely trash songs, I feel sorry for anyone who bought that recycle bin classic of a tape.
Mar 29, 2015 Don't over exaggerate on things, they wouldn't leave AS SOON AS YOU PLAY, they might think "wtf is this s--- are we at a religious party", but I never seen people walk out cause of the type of music their playing.
Mar 29, 2015 You're right that nwts was a letdown compared to take care, but that doesn't keep it from being a great album.
Mar 29, 2015 No lmao I'm implying that he's going to find a way to make a cohesive project that pulls influences from all the different eras he's been a apart of. dont take it so literally, yikes
Mar 29, 2015 And NWTS is more than a 8? That's the highest I can see it ever being for me. make sure @Jet hears this lol. nwts has aged better, i think it's better. although i think the gap is still small.
Mar 29, 2015 Magna Carter got so boring and kept coming up on my music so finally I got f---ing pissed and deleted all of it.
Mar 29, 2015 Yeah "completely different" is probably a stretch but I wouldn't put them in exactly the same basket (though listening again there are some songs that are more similar than I realized). Still, I think expanding upon and perfecting a sound is still innovating it.
Mar 29, 2015 When Kanye starts screaming at the top of his lungs on the very first track for no reason I'm sure people would leave right away. Yeezus isn't suitable to the ear when you're trying to have a good time. That's what it comes down to.
Mar 29, 2015 Yes, I think the initial disappointment from myself and others was because it didn't quite have that Take Care feel to it. While it did have tracks like Hold On, Pound Cake, Paris Morton Music, Too Much, I didn't quite understand what he was doing on some of the rest. Wu-Tang Forever, Worst Behaviour and Started From The Bottom for example. But time only helped the project, as I became more accustomed to the sound, the project began to grow on us. The tracks that I previously didn't like began to creep up in to some of my favourites on the project. NWTS laid the groundwork for this "uptempo ambience" that 40 and Drake have (with IFYTITL) perfected. It's an 8.5/10 for me.
Mar 29, 2015 But, Yeezus only sold a little over 300k it's first week. Drakes mixtape sold 500k in 3 f---ing days lmao. Kanye losing hard.....
Mar 29, 2015 strong cosign it was like magic when sftb clicked with me. always loved worst behavior though
Mar 29, 2015 you're making me realize how much i f---ing played NWTS when it dropped man MCHG was over the summer, and I was in india. i was on like a 15 hours train ride and i was just lying down and wrote an entire track by track review for it on my phone (i probably have it on my laptop now somewhere, hopefully). i loved it, im not trying to discredit NWTS by saying MCHG is as good. i genuinely like both im slowly realizing im more camp NWTS than I thought -- and was probbaly just trying to combat all the people trying to s--- on MCHG back to the story tho, MCHG was that summer (along with Yeezus), and NWTS was when I was back in school. And man it was around the same time I was listening to Old, Blue Chips 2, Acid Rap, Because the Internet, etc. was a gr8 time in my life tbqh and i tried hallucinogens for the first time i think its worth it for me to make it clear just how much i loved some tracks off NWTS....the language is in my top 10 for Drake, I think. i loved s--- like from time, and worst behavior, that other people didnt seem to rate for some reason. the airy but still intimate sound that NWTS had perfectly captures that period of time for me...its almost surreal, or, i guess, ethereal at times. i just think he's been kind of dragging his feet since NWTS i also think SFTB is one of drake's best tracks too. Along with 5 am in toronto and motions ..and I cant believe neither where on the album.. people don't realize how much of a drake fan i am
