Apr 4, 2015 I think the song would have been better if it was more fleshed out with another verse, but I don't think that makes that a bad line.
Apr 4, 2015 nope, just wish kendrick didn't tell me the homeless man he met was actually god renouncing his spot in heaven because he doesn't give money to bums
Apr 4, 2015 that's NOT what the song is about. cmon, Narsh. you're better than that... him giving money to bums is a metaphor, and in this case, it's him refusing to give back to god what god gave to him. it could also be seen as him refusing to give to the people what god gave to him. i think this is kendrick even further questioning whether or not he deserves what he's received in life/fame/fortune. why him? -- doesn't this belong to everyone?
Apr 4, 2015 All those interpretations are valid man, I just don't think his writing needed to be so on the nose. He didn't need to spell it out. It leaves a bad taste in my brain
Apr 5, 2015 Well the problem is that you're tasting with your brain. Might need to get that checked out.
