    d--- i remeber i was in Grade 9 i was anticipating this s--- so hard cause I only got into Em during his hiatus so this was my first time experiencing a "new" Eminem song. I remember i didnt hear it on TV cause i have the Canadian MTV so I got to class and my friend who has satelite said it was one of the worst Em songs he ever heard. I thought he was trolling but na he was right. Cant lie though when I first heard it I actually liked it. but it was probably the Stan hype :wow5:

    i loved everything eminem did, relapse and recovery included, until i turned like 17

    also, you basically described my experience with "Not Afraid" haha

    n----- i was literally in the middle of class (it was 10th grade, not 9th for me) and probably the first "new eminem" premiere i was ever able to experience. i was like naw b---- you aint teaching and pulled out my laptop and streamed the radio station and s---

    i got chills when i heard the hook :'(

    Lmao so true. I remember where I was when this leaked. Listened to it on Rap Basement on my computer. By far his most disappointing first single ever. I even remember Mr. Porter tweeting a couple days after it leaked saying "You all need to calm down. Y'all know the formula. Poppy single first then the good music comes later." Yea then we got 3AM lol. The one good thing that came from this single is it finally made Em drop the goofy first single formula. I bet he was embarrassed as f--- performing this song live.

    I remember how excited all the stans were over at RB before this came out. Then they tried to tell us it wasnt that bad lol...

    f--- Man no song will ever beat my hype for Not Afraid. I thought this song was a top 5 Em song after it was released. I stanned this song so d--- hard (I was in grade 10 as well) that in 2 weeks i had like 125 plays and kept telling people that hated the song that they cant stand when their favourite rapper "grows up"
    I kind of cringe now thinking how naive i was when it came to Em hype and his first singles aha. Looking back Not Afraid wouldn't even make a top 50 Em songs list for me now

    It's not bad to like a song even for a while..
    But it's Eminem so they are calling us Stans when we like the new s---..
    It could happen with any other hip hop song.. It happened to me at least :ohno:

    lol me too. I was a senior in high school. I remember getting off work after school and seeing this promo picture on f---in' Def Sounds or some s--- and being really hyped:

    Also weird to think that was before I had a smart phone. A year or two later and I probably would have checked the news on my phone during my break and known about it dropping.

    I remember finding the song by accident. Went on YouTube and the video was on the front page.
