Aug 8, 2021 If you're gonna try to say that he had no good lines on his last 2 albums you're out of your mind lol. Went from punchin'a time clock to getting my shot Then treated it like a cyclops Like it's the only one I got And my thoughts are like nines cocked Every line's obscene, pervertedest mind, got the dirtiest rhyme stocked That's why there's parental advising (visine) every time I drop (eye drop)
Aug 8, 2021 Lmao that’s so average & isn’t worth sacrificing musicality for by any means. His flows are bananas but his bars haven’t been anything spectacular in along time bro.
Aug 8, 2021 @hargydon or his uni That eye drop / advising. Is far beyond average. It's funny that a guy who agrees with me on the MMLP2 album being great thinks his bars havent been good in a long time. Bc his punchlines now are drastically better than they were on MMLP2. And you said his flows are great but the bars arent worth sacrificing musicality.....on the MMLP2 you could say his flows wernt great and were sacrificing musicality. His lines on the cudi feature, the lord above feature, book of rhymes, gnat, you gon learn. No regrets, marsh, land ock it up, were great aswell. It's all subjective so how you feels how you feel. We disagree alot in terms of music lol. We disagree on alot of Jay s--- too. It's all the same arguments with everyone every drop lol. This has been the first time I've been back on in a couple months and it's still the same discussions over and over, were all wasting our time discussing it lol.
Aug 8, 2021 It's too difficult to write an outstanding jaw-dropping punchline without being cringe. Gotta know your limit with this.. And Eminem's unpredictable bouncing delivery doesn't help at all. Take this classic, for example: There are lines like: "My entourage is on the top of Scotland Yard, cause we above the law" This is the level of "Your opinion's like a broken calculator, this s--- doesn't count", but delivery is so f---ing cold and concrete, it just slaps. But if modern Eminem spits that Poison Penmanship verse, it's gonna s--- so badly.
Aug 8, 2021 What is he saying? That he cusses in his raps to sell records? 21 years later? Well the thing is with MMLP2 it was 8 years ago at a different part of his career & we’re still digging into this hole. Like I said in the other thread, it’s like a magician showing you the same magic trick 70 times in a row, it gets old. Also, MMLP2 whether you like the content or not, it had it, a lot of different styles etc & on the back of Recovery remember. MMLP2’s best wordplay was the subtle wordplay that didn’t venture off the actual subject of the song, it still wasn’t top tier but as far as post-hiatus Em, definitely. Whereas most of these schemes lately aren’t connected to anything, he’s freestyling almost every verse & the times he isn’t, he makes good s--- like Darkness. You’ve gotta contextualise what he’s actually done here, this a Nas x Eminem collab, s--- was embarrassing.
Aug 8, 2021 he has wrote some really clever lyrics in the past 3-4 years (even better than his prime in terms of his worldplay) just needs to not over do it and the fact its usually delivered in a skippy flow kinda masks how good they are. The last verse of Believe is up there with his best. And the violin outro to that song is the most eminem-sounding thing ive heard since tes. True statement, hate to go down this road But there's only one route to cross this bridge So I walk in this b---- with loose change 'Cause all my dues paid, but this booth's takin' its toll some of his best bars ever imo.
Aug 8, 2021 i'm back on my bs like matador lmfao eminem style: I'm backononmy bull... s--- like matador(get it?)
Aug 8, 2021 Nas and Em both talked about the same s---....come up, struggle, legacy, lines about women, both had food refrences lol. Im.not saying this is his greatest verse but it's far from trash. Trash gets thrown around so godamn much anymore. And I agree about MMLP2 I love the album. And when you said "what's the line saying???" I hate that content argument so much. It's such a cop out thing. Bc nobody is holding a fraction of other artist to that standard. And if you wanna be precise you can use the argument to .most of his career. And yeah darkness is great but I'm gonna listen to book of rhymes 100 To 1 over darkness. Em as far as content I know what I'm gonna get, hes gonna talk about his career, his life coming up, critics, his addiction and hes gonna give a buncha battle bars. Hes gonna typically find a way to do it all in the same song lol that's just what he does now. I dont mind it. Maybe bc I have ADHD but I like the scatter brain s---. One reason why I've always liked Royce too. I dont understand the content and message argument. It's being used on a guy who on his first 3 albums almost every song was mentioning his wife, daughters, random murder, critics and his mom. Hes always done the same s--- just different ways. He still raps about the same subjects just in a different way.
Aug 8, 2021 Because nobody else is sacrificing the musicality of the song, you know? If you’re doing that in the music field you’ve got to be bringing something new to the table that surpasses that. 1st half of his career he was rapping measured because he was taught as such, so lack of content in areas wouldn’t stand out like a sore thumb as there was other elements of enjoyment attached to his verses. But that’s the thing again, like I said it was connected to good music but it was also his *first* 3 albums, so almost 25 years into his career it starts to get stale, we know he’s capable of so much more, look at Relapse. I like nerdy rap but it’s not the high standard you’re acting like it is & this s--- should be saved for mixtapes or freestyles/cyphers, not major hip hop collabs lol.
Aug 8, 2021 Yeah, the hook is horrible, and Nicki's verses are bad (the final verse is just laughable), but Em's verse is amazing.
Aug 8, 2021 Let's not pretend like Nas did anything outstanding either he obviously sounded more natural on the beat but I mean c'mon "pulled up with the ghost like a haunted house" lol
Aug 8, 2021 Blows my mind people are still talking about this song. Gotta love Em such weird conversation he brings. I feel like when he absolutely kills it like the Friday night cypher verse or even songs on his albums like Zeus the thread will struggle to crack 3 pages and you'll get a few "he KILLED IT....I guess....idk probably never play it again though" post but when it's an a--- verse people will go on and on about it.
Aug 8, 2021 Em was like nas the goat he's spitting wack bars though how do I top him? You're like Santa you aint real
