Apr 11, 2015 I finally updated this thread with all chart information around the globe. As usual, everything is updated within the first page -> Kendrick Lamar - The "To p---- A Butterfly" sales and chart thread But so that you guys don't have to click on that link... The chart stats below for the album. Album sales, chart placements and certifications are below! Figures in [......] represents the copies the album sold in the respective weeks. Bold = Peak position The star sign * marks the certification the album received. Est. = Estimations based by published sales reports. Without sales report, I won't do estimations. So don't be surprised, if there are no estimations anymore after a while. *As streaming is getting bigger and bigger, Billboard is including streaming data into their calculation of the album charts. Apr 11, 2015 I thought about to start my first thread with this. A thread to collect chart stats for Kendrick's newest album. I love the album, and I'm also interested in charts .So I hope you guys will enjoy and follow this thread. I'm also running this thread on ukmix and hiphopshelter. So, why not here too?
Apr 11, 2015 Source: http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=295469 Another huge drop for Kendrick. I'm seriously disappointed by his US sales so far... For the people who don't know -> SPS means that the 35-40k figure includes streaming.
Apr 11, 2015 Who knows... Sadly, things aren't looking good. HDD predicted him to sell 500-600k copies in his first week in the US last year. Not sure, why his sales aren't that strong... Guess his label messed it up a bit. + He took way too much time and gap after the release of "i"...
Apr 11, 2015 You never know... Nah illmatic took a couple years to go platinum, 8 years was it? So you never know...
Apr 11, 2015 Considering all the acclaim + hype I thought Platinum was a given + even 2x Platinum doable... Guess not. And it is just disappointing.
Apr 11, 2015 I was like, "wait, why do I have so many likes all of a sudden"? Thanks haha. I appreciate it. Glad you guys like it so far. I will update the whole thing in a hour.
Apr 11, 2015 Everything is updated now within the first post. I do hope he will promote this album in the States... Dude is f*cking MIA.
Apr 11, 2015 Uhm Lightskinken... Wrong thread pal. This thread is just for sales and chart positions. Other questions can be asked in the "Kendrick Lamar - To p---- A Butterfly (Released - Buy it now!)" thread.. I added King Kunta to the second post now, as it is the second single. I won't add "i" simply because I don't have the time to search up the whole thing + the song didn't do well any way and acted more as a buzz single...
Apr 12, 2015 I think it's because the casual rap fans loved the poetic justice and b---- don't k--- my vibe and swimming pools type songs off GKMC. They were probably disappointed to see the lack of radio songs on the album therefor not buying it. Agreed, it's sad. But the best album doesn't always equal best sales!
Apr 12, 2015 I do agree with you. Critical acclaim doesn't really sell an album. Still. I think we all can agree on that the album isn't doing that well right now. The hype was really big from what I've seen. But it didn't really convert into album sales... I mean, 27k for next week? The question is, if he will even reach Platinum. It's sad, imo. And it's not like hip hop fans were huge album buyers any way. You can just see that by Drake and Em, both able to pull d--- big numbers. But many other rappers stuck at under 200k total sales, which is horrible. The second biggest selling hip hop album last year had 530k sales or so and that was Em with MMLP2. Just Cole sold over 800k copies. Another sad thing is that Kendrick remains invisible. Dude, promote your album. I get that rappers hate to promote their stuff (Em is the best example...), but still. The sales of this album are dropping so fast... Something needs to be done.
Apr 12, 2015 I wouldn't go that far.. Good Kid sold 1,4m copies (Adjusted) in the US. To p---- sold so far almost 500k copies in hard sales (Excluding streaming). I definitely thought he would improve though... But things aren't certain yet. I guess we will have to wait and see how things turn out. Although I doubt this will even come for Good Kid's sales. Even 1m sales remains unlikely at this point..
