High school. Queens. I had on a long sleeved Phat Farm button down, Phat Farm jeans and denim swoosh Air Force 1’s. I started the day anxiously waiting to cop The Blueprint and Ghetto Fabolous from The Wiz or Coconuts. That had to wait. I wasn’t afraid of another attack. I was more concerned about a potential draft happening and I was close to the age for that. A month or so after 9/11, there was a plane crash in Queens, a flight going to DR. I thought my uncle was on the flight (he wasn’t). The father of one of my classmates was on that flight, he died. Very, very dark time in NYC’s history. 2020 (and this year) kind of reminds me of that time.

You think that’s funny, the actual shirt was even funnier. Some sort of sandy brown with hints of burgundy abomination. I thought it was dope at the time. Wouldn’t wear that now. The denim swoosh AF1’s I would wear. Although they were Mids (sneakerheads today hate Mids for some reason). But fashion is goofy like that. I’ve been wearing Champion all my life. Now it’s a trendy brand. I won’t be shocked if brands like Phat Farm, Rocawear, etc go through a vintage/retro renaissance at some point.

I remember our teacher being worried with us living right beside the United States that something was gonna happen here as well.

Those videos of people filming it as it happens and hearing all the screams is bone chilling.

Ya I was maybe 5-6 in preschool. I definitely remember having the news on in class tho. I was too young to understand but I remember knowing something was wrong. Crazy it’s been 20 years

It was scary for sure, even for us when we were so young. I remember my grandparents were talking about WW3 happening after this, idk why would that happen but still, the shock was there.

Same. I was 9 and the teacher gathered everyone at the front of the class to explain what just happened.

Isn't it crazy how big of an impact this had. Even for people living across the world. We all stopped what we were doing to pay attention to what was happening.

I remember being in Afghanistan on vacation during 9/11 and not being able to make it back home. Still here.

I was too young to understand the impact of this all, cause back then I was 7, but I remember it all very clearly. I was in school and teachers were talking about it, all of us were just watching news in class.
