Was a college student and Friends made me listen to a few of his songs. In the morning was a masterpiece, then heard higher on a camping trip. Then downloaded all his music and first few songs on shuffle was Dreams and Show me Something. Was a stan ever since. :wow:

The relatability was key, being a college student, worrying about the future, girls, and paying off loans. Watching him Blow Up and all his success was huge for me as well. His Low-key GOAT interviews, he tries to stay out of the spotlight but at the same time he just keeps winning. :wow5:

Growing up in NY, i was always attracted to NY rap. Whether it be Dipset, 50 Cent, Jadakiss, G-Unit, Nas, Mobb Deep, Fat Joe, Fabolous, etc. I basically became a stan of NY rap.

Then one day i saw "Way I am" on MTV and was hooked onto Em

I stan Cole for sure, found out about him back in high school from a friend's FB post, I think I listened to Can I Live as the very first song and then Hold it Down, into Lil Ghetto Nikka & Last Stretch, those songs especially hit me and I was hooked. I moved here from the Dominican Republic but I was never a "typical" Dominican and stayed to myself. Around that time I went through a lot with a girl, my parents marriage deteriorating, and losing a cousin of mine so it all felt like my life in the form of words and rhythms.

Needless to say I went on a binge of all his music and there were just so many great tracks, I didn't use to listen to music like that back then but I had to listen to his stuff. Definitely transitioning to a college student here in NY made the connection even stronger. I remember waiting on FNL, waiting on CW:SS & hoping for good first week sales, I still can't say that he's made tracks that have resonated with me more than those four and I don't know if he ever will,(Although, 2Face, Farewell, & Breakdown are sooooo close) but these tracks will always be the reason why it always started

I'm sick, the Easter holidays haven't finished so I don't have classes and I can't sleep despite the beers, so long post incoming friends. I'll bold the stanned artists instead of a tl;dr version. Here are some spoiler tags as a safety net.

The first crew that I stanned were the Wu-Tang, back when I was a kid; a friend of mine from school was into rap heavily (the basic stuff, wu, pac etc) and everytime I went to his house (he had a playstation and I didn't xD) we listened to the wu and Sunz Of Man (lolwut). I didn't understand more than half of the lyrics back then (we dem euro boys) but it was the first time I listened to rap, they sounded so unique. Enter the Wu-Tang is now among my favourite albums of all time across all genres.

Then I started checking out more of this rap music; Illmatic was a must listen (that's what everyone said). I didn't like it back then except from Represent, it was so smooth. This changed when I was like 18, and I think it's one of the best records of all time for a while now (I even brought a vinyl back from my trip to Scotland despite not having a gramophone or something :)). I can't say that I have stanned Nas that much, but I've listened to his music frequently for many years.

For the next years (from my 12 to like 15-16) I stanned Eminem and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (wtf?). One of my brother's friend bought him TES for his birthday and it has a booklet with the lyrics (which I still have). I was getting kinda bored with the Wu and my friend's playstation games so that cd was a great surprise. Em's skill and confidence was impressive, he was funny, he had that idgaf attitude, sick flows etc etc. He also showed me more rappers in Till I Collapse (I was just a boy). Em lead me to Biggie, and Notorious Thugs to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, whose 90's material was f---ing amazing. Rap kept on impressing young Peter more and more.

Then I grew up and discovered sex, psychedelic and classic rock, all thanks to the same girl. The standom started reaching different stages all at once. What a time to be alive.

And then came the heartbreak after a few months, and young Peter was angry and went back to his gangsta roots, but not for long. A cool irish guy from a rap board (the guy's username was knoccc) introduced me to Atmosphere and CunninLynguists. Musical Chairs was the first (and for a short while) the only atmos song that I liked. After a few weeks they started clicking, and I've been a fan since then (Slug is the best rapper everrrrr). Southsiders made me sad, but it's ok. A Piece Of Strange and YCIHMFWH were on rotation heavily, then I decided to look up for more of their stuff, and I wasn't disappointed. During that time I realised that Illmatic is a great record, and I was kinda disappointed that Em was on a hiatus. Most of the usual "real rap" bored me (this has changed for some rappers ofc, but the term remains r-----ed) and I refused to give no-real rap a chance. I was just a boy.

Then I made a new best friend during a football (soccer for the f--s) match; I was playing in defence because I s----d but couldn't see s--- without my glasses so they couldn't have me as a keeper (haha), and Anthony was on the opposite team as a forward because he was too bored to run but was a good player. We f----- up the game lol, my r-----ed humour was similar to his, and he was interested in music and graffiti/street art like me. He got me into trip hop (Massive Attack and Portishead FOREVAH) and Radiohead, who had released In Rainbows a few months ago. I started with OK Computer, moved to Kid A, moved to its sicker counterpart, then started listening to them from the start. In Rainbows is my favourite album of all time. Has the light gone out for you? Cause the light's gone out for me

Then I moved on to different bands and really liked Arctic Monkeys a long time before it would become cool. My fluorescent adolencence was approaching its end, and so does this wall of text.

Then came another heartbreak, along with 808's, and a Ye fan was born. And then the interest for rap intensified, and Ab-Soul's Long Term 2 lead me to Kendrick in 2011. The overreactions regarding TPAB kinda annoy me because some threads are getting ruined, but it's ok. It's been nice "watching" Kendrick for that long, and the album is good so everything is fine. There are many other artists that I really like and stan more or less, but I've been typing for ~25' and this is getting too long so I'll save the last 2 entries for Ancient Astronauts, who are a producer duo from Germany that make hip hop beats and trip hop music with amazing sampling and I met in person when they visited my country last year, and V.I.C., a stoner rock group from my small town who give a nice traditional folk touch to their Kyuss influence. Everyone has passed the test of time, except from Eminem as you probably guessed, but who cares.

    That's all folks

I remember being in Sophomore year and barely having started listening to rap. All I f----- with was backpacker s--- like Lupe and Mos Def (still love em) and I had a homie who was big into Yeezy and started showing me all his s---. He started explaining to me like the dope ness of Kanye's production and whatnot and I got s----d in man. Now, this story isn't about Ye tho. My friend would always hop on KTT during class and he showed me Owl Pharaoh the day it dropped. I remember being mesmerized by h--- of A Night, but I'd just gotten into so much rap that it fell on the back burner and I forgot all about Travis. And then Days Before Rodeo dropped and it was f---ing surreal. I spent 2 days just listening to The Prayer and Mamacita over and over. Then I got two songs more in and had those on repeat. It took me a full week to hear DBR front to back cuz I would hear one song and just be so in awe that I couldn't bring myself to move on to the next one. From there I rediscovered Owl Pharaoh and that was a whole nother experience. For those of you that haven't heard it, it opens up with Travis moaning over a faded choir, sharp a--- oddly timed drums, an autotuned horse, and some rednecks screaming "WHAT WE GOT HERE BOY?! WHAT WE GON DO WITH THIS BOY?!" s--- was mad surreal yo, like an audio acid trip. I've been hooked ever since.

I had heard "My Hitta" on the radio once before, but when My Krazy Life came out, I decided to buy the whole album instead of just the single. I don't know why, maybe it was the interesting song titles, or maybe it was the artwork. I dunno. Ever since it came out march 2014, I've yet to go a day without listening to the album front to back. I can sing along to every word, I know every drum in every beat, I know each piano melody, and I love each and every song equally as if they were children. Sure the album has its lows, but it also has epic highs. In a concept similar to GKMC, YG manages to twist it from an innercity innocent to a gangbangers point of view, yet maintaining the sense of justice within the action. YG is a phenomenal rapper, with probably the best flow of the new age. Backed by DJ Mustard's twist on g-funk, and TC's innovative melodys, the album that YG pieced together was amazing. He became a personal favorite March 2014, and has yet to fall from the spot.
