    I could use some help & it'll take >5 minutes of your time—


    My gf is a travel nurse, took a 4-month contract in Honolulu, and we moved here a few weeks ago. The governor of Hawaii had signed an emergency proclamation, allowing out-of-state nurses to practice without an in-state license, however, that proclamation ends on Tuesday and there hasn't been word of it being extended. Due to system bottlenecks, there's a high likelihood that she won't have her in-state license prior to then (it may take months, despite submitting the paperwork 2 months ago), in which case, her contract may be cancelled and our living situation might get interesting.


    If you're willing:
    Please write a brief blurb (link below) to the governor of Hawaii, asking that he extend the emergency proclamation.


    Talking points / key phrases:

    • The 'Emergency Proclamation Related to the COVID-19 Response' allows out-of-state nurses to practice and ends on October 4th
    • Requesting to extend the proclamation
    • Additional medical help is still needed
    • Treatment & patient care will be affected
    • We'll lose many nurses
    • Rates are going down, but hospitals are still full
    • We need the help
    • Help keep Hawaii safe
    • Urgency

    I don’t see why not. Maybe say that you have a friend who is a travel nurse practicing in Hawaii?

    I had a job offer to hawaii a few months ago. I saw them housing prices and said NAHH i'm good. The value of my house would barely get get 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and I live in southern california!

    they just replied back to me. it has been extended through November 30, 2021.

    "The Governor's Emergency Proclamation Related to the State's COVID-19 Delta Response, dated October 1, 2021, suspends Section 457-1, HRS, purpose, and chapter 16-89, HAR to the extent necessary to allow out-of-state licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, and advance practice registered nurses with prescriptive authority with a current and active license, or those previously licensed pursuant to chapter 457, HRS, but who are no longer current and active, to practice in Hawai‘i without a license. These suspensions ensure all health care demands are met while Hawai‘i continues to respond to the impacts of COVID-19 and its variants. This proclamation is in effect through November 30, 2021 unless terminated or extended by separate proclamation."
