    There’s nothing inherently wrong with music that’s polarizing, nor with music that celebrates the spoils instead of fixating on the struggles. Considering just how much of the latter Young Thug has experienced in his 23 years in-and-out of the trenches, watching him reap what he’s been sowing since his first “ay” produces an immediately euphoric contact high. Thug births and subsequently masters countless styles before even his own crew can process the register of his delivery, let alone the intricacies of his melodies. On one hand, he’s a caricature of a cartoon character, but on the other, he’s an enigma; a transcendent b------ child of mid-2000s Lil Wayne and Kanye West. And he’s arguably more in tune with the essence of this actavis-leaned sound he’s imagined into existence than any other artist in the genre is with their own respective craft....

    Applause to @Narsh for putting together what is very likely his best piece yet.

    Good job Narsh, very well writen and detailed review. If people don't have the patience to sit through the whole record on their own, or if they don't pay enough attention and they just can't get Thug's appeal, this piece will certainly help. Pitchfork haven't posted their review yet so S80 stays winning :emoji_sunglasses:

    Or we could ask a Young Thug hater to write his version, this would be fun ~(^_^)~

    I would 10000% be down and would even fight for the blog to publish it as a think piece or somethig if someone wanted to write an rational negative review of the record

    @Narsh nice piece -- i hear the obvious weezy/tunechi influence... re: kanye do you just mean the 808-style autotune crooning or is there something im missing

    The 808 influence more than anything, and I think it's going to be a more prominent influence on later tracks. I have an unreleased track or two that highlight that influence more. I can only imagine what him and ye are cooking up together rn :ohno:
