    His little rant about some of his lyrics not being anything special, mirror one of my comments towards @Narsh pretty accurately. Down to using the same line as an example. I dont know how I feel about that.

    Fantano doesn't get hip hop, at least in its consistently transforming iterations. He has more knowledge than I ever will on the topic, but that doesnt stop him from historically being off base in his criticisms when it comes to this genre.

    Most likely wont watch this, but might if I want to make myself angry at some point. I mean, just looking at this fav tracks in the description says it all -- he liked the most straight forward tracks.

    A 5 isn't a bad thing from Fantano.
    If I could speak to him Id tell him the same things I told you haha. People have a weirdly skewed way of looking at writing, especially with rap. You can read execution off a piece of paper. And execution can most definitely "excuse" lesser lyrics (although there's no such thing as lesser or greater until you take context into account, in my opinion)

    Lol I know you would, and the fact that I consistently disagree with his reviews and overall views on music made me feel uncomfortable about our views on this being so similar. Almost, made me completely flip flop on my opinion.

    But for real, yeah, it's more likely Fantano is coming at it with a skewed perspective. But it's also a perspective a lot of people latch onto cause it offers an easy way of dismissing Thug

    I never have understood why people like this guy. Most of his criticisms are stupid, or even genuinely false, and I don't even think he's all that articulate (which would be much more evident if the majority of his reviews were written and he couldn't mask it with his delivery).

    True, about it being an easy way to dismiss him. Fortunately, i can appreciate other aspects of his music to be able to enjoy it. Doesnt change my belief that some of his writing isn't up to par with his other qualities.

    This really needs to be a default smiley.

    Anyway I didn't watch it but I agree that Young Thug's writing ability is a bit overrated by his hardcore fans—which isn't to say he's a bad writer by any means, but I think his main strength is the uniqueness and variety in his flows and melodies.
