Apr 22, 2015Do you think there would be any white rappers today if it weren't for Eminem? The way I see it, Em served as a civil rights activist for the caucasian minority in hip hop. During a time when the black rappers were telling white rappers, "No you can't", Eminem stood up and said, "Yes, we can!'. He tore down the wall and opened up the gates for not only white rappers, but other races such as hispanics as well. Without Eminem there wouldn't be a Beastie Boyz, there wouldn't be a Big Pun, there wouldn't be a Slug, or even a Yelawolf. There wouldn't even be a Kendrick, now I'm aware he's black but let me explain. A lot of the stuff on To k--- a Butterfly is crying about the oppression of the black culture and how they get their culture (hip hop) stolen from them by the whites. If Eminem had never opened the gates, Kendrick would've never had any subject matter for his second album and it probably would've flopped. So next time, you're thinking about disrespecting Eminem, think about your favorite artists, and appreciate the fact that he probably wouldn't be here without Em.
In the name of Shady, Slim, and Marshall Mathers. Amen.
