Sep 21, 2022I agree for the most part, but Teddy Perkins has the same, if not more of a reach than Zendaya. Teddy is the voice of a new generation

The first ep was really good but he basically spent the rest of the season trying to hammer watered down versions of the same message he was making with it. I thought the rich wigga poor wigga episode was decent but was hoping for a better commentary on class than we ultimately got. It’s hard not to feel robbed of the amazing characters they created and the incredible actors that play them, season feels like mostly a waste sadly.LasiK, Ordinary Joel, J630 and 3 others like this. -

I feel like there is more going on than it seems but I don’t have the energy to figure it out. Need someone smarter than me to do it. Pretty sure @LasiK was right and there is some weird Twin Peaks alternative universe metaphoric mastery going on and that most people are missing it by taking these episodes at face value.
All the “reviews” these days seem to just plainly and boringly state what happens in each episode with no insight and reading through reddit it seems like pretty much everyone is just taking this as a linear plot continuation. I could definitely be wrong but I really don’t think that is the right way to view these episodes Ordinary Joel, J630, Reed Richards and 1 other person like this. -

If you're familiar with Twin Peaks (created by David Lynch, Mark Frost) it basically started off as a small-town murder mystery series before evolving into something vastly different with interdimensional beings, supernatural elements, alternate timelines, doppelgangers, possessions, good and evil, etc.
If Glover's initial vision of Atlanta stays true to what he originally envisioned (especially with the post-credit sequence indicating that White Earn was true to the reality of Atlanta's world) it could get weird.
In the season premiere, White Earn said ""With enough blood and money, anyone can be white. It's always been that way,” and then in episode 4 "Maybe it’s only right,” he says, explaining to Marshall that a curse has been lifted. “Now we’re free,”" before killing himself as if the curse would be lifted. The post-credits sequence has Donald Glover's Earn literally and (maybe) metaphorically inheriting the White Earn's baggage.
Could be grasping at straws, and it might just be a metaphor for how money and fame = bad, but who knows. I'd love for it to do a Twin Peaks style switch up.J630, Ordinary Joel, Rodamon and 1 other person like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Yeah I actually just rewatched the first 2 seasons because it's been so long and this show isn't a normal where you'd remember everything... And wow the first two seasons are so much better than where we are at right now. Loved the first episode and the reparation one was funny but the regular plot is pretty boring.Ordinary Joel, J630, Rodamon and 1 other person like this. -

^it definitely was. It’s cool that fx is letting him do whatever he wants but we don’t have many episodes left with these characters so it’s kinda s-----y, if there are many more of these the rest of the season it’s gonna be an LOrdinary Joel, Reed Richards, Worm and 1 other person like this. -

Was not into that deangelo stuff ngl. A “success isn’t as great as it seems” trope would be a highly disappointing conclusion to Earn. I like where Paper Boi’s arc is going tho.
