May 7, 2015 Got the opportunity to hear some new Jay Rock today. This song has a throwback feel, with a Dr. Dre type beat, with hard drums and a soulful piano melody. It is not the flashiest song, but Jay Rock and his guess feature both deliver very aggressively in their verses, ranging through topics about Gangs, and some real street s---! The hook is pretty catchy, and feels reminiscent to old school Black Hippy/ Jay Rock mixtape days. Rate : 7.5/10 Any thoughts? @MiamiDWade3
May 7, 2015 Can't steal my shine with the kendrick review Is that Ab-Soul on the hook by the way? I can't tell
May 7, 2015 I'll add more when I listen to it more, but for now... The beat is almost identical to Still DRE... Which makes it sound kind of suspicious, but the lyrics can't be found anywhere online. Jay Rock is on his usual grind. Rapping about hard s--- and killing people... The hook is pretty good, but nothing special. This isn't a standout Jay Rock by any means, but it's good. I'd give it a 7.5/10 right now. It also doesn't have as much rapping as I woulda liked. Only one verse from Jay Rock and the guest.
May 7, 2015 T1, the DJ for Ab-Soul and TDE forwarded it to one of my homies a couple weeks ago. And he sent me the song.
May 7, 2015 If T1 sent you party nauseous, please don't ever leak it That song is golden and I'm selfish to where I want to keep it to myself
May 7, 2015 Holy s--- it's that old? At the least it was recorded in 2013 with the references made and message
May 7, 2015 Yeah, it was supposed to come out in 2012-2013. Good Kid, Maad City era. I think it was right around the time Gaga remixed BDKMV
