he's right. the shift in his style sonically and just his rapping in general is really apparent in the post-forever world

forever, despicable, no love, drop the world...they're are distinctly heading towards the recovery and beyond Eminem

    It's hard to explain...

Back in the 90's and early 2000's, rap DID have punchlines and stuff, and people loved them, but Eminem was more about verbal irony, dark humor, great rhyme schemes, and visual imagery.

From SSLP to Relapse, Eminem exercised that style...(granted not as great on Relapse and Encore)

When he did Drop The World and Despicable, he changed, and he went into "wordplay" rap.. Like @Narsh just alluded to, about the heir to the throne line, he sets this complex wordplay out, which he's done for the last 5-6 years.

Eminem in his prime? I don't remember him doing it THAT much... Most of his best lines had ZERO punchline/wordplay in it...

yeah f--- it despicables still dope, that beat drop, and its just so much fun to rap

the fun to rap:embarrassing to rap ratio is very low

i remembering thinking he was gonna be on bamboozle after hearing him say that word :'(

and always loved the daffy duck ending

    sslp or mmlp

tes actually took me the longest to stop f---ing around and listen front to back. its great, but em's style was already shifting then.

how nimble he was on his first two albums is the sweet spot for me

I remember listening to TES at a friends house when I was 12 or 13, and it still gives me nostalgia. Buying it, listening to it over and over..

Even today, TES is my favorite. I won't say it's Eminem's best, but I'd like to think it is. Say Goodbye Hollywood just might be my favorite Eminem song of all time, top 10 for sure.

It's so weird to me, because I remember when this dude first came out... I would've NEVER thought he'd turn out this way lol.

He was so raw... I don't think a lot of new fans really know how older fans perceived Eminem back in the day... A lot of the songs I was a huge fan of was stuff NOT on his albums... I remember we used to use Napster, and everyone would download all exclusive freestyles and demo tapes of rappers, and we used to love Eminem's s---.

rap genius back in the day literally had a message that they didnt have too many Eminem songs transcribed because, well, they arent usually that complex punchline wise

i kid you not, i distinctly remember reading something to that extent on their site when i first started it using to look up lyrics (mainly eminem lol)

    I'm having a bad day

    I hate f--s, and I'm f---ing mad I don't have aids

made a bomb threat with a fake device

    f--- it:

    Whose arm is this?
I must've cut it off at the pharmacist
Who refused to renew my seventh prescription of Darvocets
I'm the old man who lives upstairs and starves his pets
    That never leaves his house
Cause he thinks his car's possessed
    I hate my life
That's why I degrade my wife
    Grabbed the paper plate
    To make a sandwich
    And just ate the knife
My Mother's screaming "Please heal him, take him straight to Christ!"
Meet you in the street and slap you
    Just to break the ice
    (What up? I'm Eminem.)
Made a bomb threat with a fake device
    Strip you naked twice
Pistol whip you and force you to take advice
But if you catch me boppin' my head to some bs you were spittin'
I was probably just trying to shake the lice
Bugs falling out of my head
    I'm wishing I was dead
While I'm crawling out of my bed
    Pissing violet red
    And my raps are returning
I feel the sensation of burning
That's current usually during painful release of my urine
    Screaming in my shadows
    "Please quit following me!"
    These pills keep screaming
    "Please quit swallowing me!"
    The devil keeps screaming
"Please get down on one knee!"
I took the drugs before the cops ever found them on me

    absolutely flawless
