he sounded the same throughout the whole album, which gets old pretty fast for me, and the vocal delivery could've been much better. it wasn't until MMLP that em perfected his skills as a rapper. also content and writing was at least as good on MMLP

There was definitely a change of mind set when he started to work on TES. It's a lot more personal, introspective, he kind of strayed away from the dark humor content that was found throughout his first two albums. A lot of that I think had to do with people calling him gimicky and corny and he wanted to prove that he could actual write serious music while also telling people what he was going through at that point in his life because 2002 was really the peak of Eminem's fame. He had 8 mile coming out, was feuding with Benzino/Ja Rule, etc.

I can accept MMLP. Thought you were gonna say TES.

I know what you mean though. His delivery, lyrics and content came together on MMLP.

I just remember when SSLP dropped and it was so different from anything I'd heard to that point in hip hop.

So many great concept tracks, or story telling tracks, then with some great lyrical tracks, and a couple personal ones.

Guilty Conscience, Bonnie and Clyde, Brain Damage, My Fault and As The World Turns... LOVED them as story telling/concept songs...

I loved the emotion in Rock Bottom and If I Had, because he was IN that state of mind then.

Im Shady, Still Don't, Just Dont, Role Model all were raw, but had a style I never heard before.

I still consider Guilty Conscience, Brain Damage and Bonnie and Clyde as some of his best songs to date.

Which I get, I'm fine with the transition, but I don't think it's as interesting as SSLP/MMLP. It's more traditional in the sense of "I can vibe to this album" more than SSLP/MMLP.

SSLP and MMLP, to me, were just WAY more creative than TES, therefore more of an interesting listening experience.

I legit didn't know what to expect next on either album when first listening to both. I felt that nothing was off limits and it made me excited to hear the next song.

TES was great, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't the same listening experience.

I've said this before but SSLP is Eminem telling you his childhood through a comic book. He loved comic books as a kid and was one of the many ways he could escape from school and just the reality of his life in general. You can really see that influence on SSLP, it's fun, it's humorous, inappropriate, exaggerated, fictional etc. all traits you would find in a comic book.

I KIND of agree, accept I look at SSLP as his most socially conscious album. Plus, I think it centered more around his ENTIRE life than his childhood.

To me it was his most complete AND interesting album, easily.

MMLP is really close though, but it doesn't have the conceptual writing or storytelling that SSLP does. However, Eminem perfected his style on MMLP...

Song like My Fault, talking about drug use, but making it into a funny story... Or Guilty Conscience, talking about 3 different scenarios, but with different results...

    f---, I love SSLP lmao.

Actually, MMLP is probably his most socially conscious album... But, I think SSLP mixed it well with his personal life.

I definitely agree with MMLP & SSLP being the more creative and fun projects but from an artistry stand point. Writing, producing, mixing, I think TES has the edge. Songs like Say Goodbye to Hollywood, Soldier, Sing for the Moment all display incredible song writing that you wouldn't necessarily see on the first 2 projects.

Could have arguably been better than TES.
