May 10, 2015 Personality is not what makes an artist good or not. If an artist can make good music he is a good artist not if he is like a great person or not
May 10, 2015 Real talk @cmmn.sns @Koolo I see Kanye's personality brought up a lot (which shouldn't matter because not only is it none of our business but it has absolutely no correlation to the music itself) but I honestly don't get why he's considered such a bad guy. Like, before the Taylor Swift incident, I'd never seen or heard anyone ever say negative things about him. And its been proven that Yeezy was drunk off his a---, which doesn't excuse it totally but he has apolagized and I can personally attest that alcahol makes you do dumb s--- And then everyone wants to go off on him like he has a big ego and s---, but I mean the only s--- I've ever heard him say that sounds big-headed is that he is his favorite rapper. But why is that a bad thing? Why are we crucifying a man for enjoying his own craft as much as his fans? Every single artist/celebrity who has met him and gotten to know him had stated that he's a really cool dude, he's just cocky. And idk, cockiness can get annoying, especially to people who already dislike the guy, but that's not enough to make him a "terrible human being" in my book. And then in top of that there's the fact that its in the medias best interest to make yall think he's a terrible person, so they'll constantly publish flat out lies about Kanye in order to stir up a fuss, because what is everyone gonna do when they hear the uproar? Go to the media and check it out, thereby giving the sites more views. @Koolo, you should know personally from things such as that hasitleaked interview that people love to hate, especially on big name people. It makes little guys feel better knowing these huge names are just as bad as them. That's why they'll do everything in their power to put a negative spin on things in relation to Kanye, just like HIL made backhanded remarks to you throughout the interview. Journalists can be snakes, and it really surprises me that people take their word on celebrities at face value when thwir bottom line depends on shi--ing on guys like Ye.
May 10, 2015 I have no quarrels with him before the Taylor Swift incident in fact I was not that upset about the incident itself. It is just the way he's been carrying himself ever since Yeezus IMO. In all of the media interviews at the time (or maybe just the ones I happened to see) he was blabbering endlessly about fashion holding people in slavery and bitching over the fashion houses not allowing him to present his designs to them properly. And I mean I have nothing against the substance of it, to a certain extent I might even agree. But for f---s sake that was all he was blabbering about endlessly and aimlessly I would argue. Whatever question the interviewer asked he got back to fashion and slavery and not getting what he wants. I mean fashion is cool, but I follow him because of his music. You talk a little about fashion, but please don't twist every interview and every question into that realm. And doing fashion isn't saving the world. Even him trying to make fashion cheaper, is nowhere near saving the world (although it is a good effort in some regards). Also you remember what he looked back then (maybe does the same now, don't know, haven't followed him that much), he was so serious, looking pissed off all the time. He would smile for a microsecond and be back to being pissed off. Remember someone asked him about it and his reasoning was along the lines of have you ever looked at old pictures of famous people, they never smile, that's why I stopped smiling all the time. Sounds stupid IMO. Not going to speak about all of his outrageous comparisons of himself to [insert legendary musician, entrepreneur etc. person name here]. These sort of things just make me not like the guy on a personal level. That being said, however I agree that his persona shouldn't be important at all when we talk about music and he does make some d--- good music. Cannot front, I really do enjoy his stuff. But when it comes to media and his interviews in the post-yeezus era, d--- were they frustrating to see/listen to. IDK if I helped explain my view or stirred up more drama and will now get some superb backlash lol.
May 10, 2015 I can understand where you're coming from, but a few rebuttals: -I can understand how the fashion thing would get annoying, but once again minor personality quirks=/=terrible person -hes already said with the no smiling thing that he just does it because people in the 1800s and s--- would never smile in their photos, and he liked how it looked so he did it, and then once he found out people hated it, he said "not smiling makes me smile" meaning the fact that people getting their panties in a twist over whether a rapper smiles in his own photos is hilarious -once again, this is because he's his own biggest fan. Cocky, for sure, but if someone like, say, John Lennon had compared himself to, say, Stevie Wonder, would you be mad? Again, I feel like almost all the hate for Yeezy stems from the media telling us to hate him and trying to give us fuel for the fire
May 10, 2015 -Didn't know he said that about the no-smiling/smiling thing. About getting panties in a twist, you know it sucks seeing your favorite artist in every interview sitting there like he isn't enjoying his time at all or like he is pissed off of something. I get that "more money, more problems", but d--- dude. -I think it is his overall cockiness exactly as you said, that is the main reason why people keep telling he is a "terrible person". I wouldn't use "terrible person" (if I did before, then my bad), but I would say "he makes you want to kick him in the nuts" for a lot of people. Exactly as most extra cocky people in real life make you do IMO (or maybe it is just me). This might of course really depend on each individual, thus I get why it might not annoy you. I would add that, yes as an artist his persona should be irrelevant. But no matter how you look at it, with most people (especially fans) an artist's persona and the way he is (or acts) is also important. Otherwise we wouldn't follow them on social media like crazy, most interviews would have entirely different content/questions and so on.
May 10, 2015 Every thing you've said is understandable and I don't have a problem with it I just felt someone needed to say the things I did, and tagged you and Koolo cuz yall were the first people I saw say you disliked his personality
May 10, 2015 His production skills, songwriting, persona, ambition or maybe just the fact that a lot of people like his music? Really it's not such a hard concept to grasp why people like Kanye...
May 10, 2015 To add to this, the fact that he is polarizing and frequently discussed, whether arguing over the quality of his music or the integrity of his character, is, in my opinion, a testament to his "greatness".
May 10, 2015 lol you're deaf or are not paying much attention if you think this. El-p is no where near Eminem as far as technical structure goes. Eminem aint just a fast rapper who puts in tons of syllables, check his entire catalog dog and you see vast diversity of flows, from f---ing Infinite/soul intent all the way till now, El-p aint f---in with that s---. Also, kanye's rapping aint s--- compared to most prominent rappers. Everyone knows this. His rapping is simplistic, tired, and usually ghost written.
May 10, 2015 Is there some kind of mod (like the leak mod) that pushes notifications every time Eminem's mentioned outside of his section? How is it possible for dudes like ganjakush to respond every time in every thread
May 10, 2015 Modern Em is goat Eminem is in every thread. U just have to go to every thread and somewhere you'll find Smth bout him
