May 13, 2015 From http://www.sho.com/sho/reality-docs/titles/3414932/iverson#/index On May 16th, Showtime will be releasing a feature-length documentary charting the rise of basketball great Allen Iverson, told largely in his own words. From a turbulent childhood of crushing poverty in Virginia, to controversial run-ins with the law, to iconic Philadelphia 76ers all star, his audacious rejection of convention and off the court embrace of hip-hop sent shock waves through the NBA and influenced an entire generation. The documentary will be directed by Zatella Beatty, and is set to air this Saturday, May 16th at 9pm Eastern. Check out the official trailer below. May 13, 2015 Growing up I had 2 posters on my wall, Kobe & A.I. I doubt I'll enjoy it as much as the Kobe one that dropped in Feb, but I'm excited and will definitely be watching sometime over the weekend. IMO nobody has influenced this past generation of players more than Iverson.
May 13, 2015 Very arrogant a------. That's from when he played for the Pistons I hate to kick a guy when he's down, but news is news. Chris McCosky, who earlier explained that his writings on Iverson have nothing to do with any personal animosity, has this story explaining how Iverson's behavior has led him to being banned from Detroit area casinos. April 14, Detroit News: Allen Iverson has gone from being a one-man economic stimulus plan for the city's downtown casinos to persona non grata. He has spent a ton of money down there, but recently he's been banned from both MGM and Greektown casinos. The NBA is looking into a disturbance at Greektown that involved one of Iverson's body guards. Iverson may have been trying to act as a peacemaker but his body guard was involved in some kind of tussle. Iverson, though, has been banned mostly for his boorish behavior. He is a bad loser, and he loses a lot, often throwing his chips or cards at the dealer. He has been warned about improper behavior at the tables repeatedly. He is often loud and disruptive, according to witnesses, rude to dealers, other players and the wait staff. With the accusations by that Ohio man that claims he was assaulted by one of Iverson's bodyguards last week, the negatives in Iverson's time in Detroit just keep piling up.
May 14, 2015 Yeah @red rum Detroit days were not the best for him. I remember he still thought he should start and absolutely hated coming off the bench.
May 14, 2015 I saw Iverson sit on the bench for the 76ers the night Gilbert Arenas pulled a gun on his teammates in the locker room.
May 15, 2015 That happened the year before... In 2008, I was hoping that would happen again in 2009 when I went to that rematch... But no, AI was in the s---t around and never left the bench during the game.
May 15, 2015 Yeah it sucks he didn't really go through a slow decline in his game as he got older, he just kind of lost it all of the sudden.
