Sep 4, 2022I don't know why but I'm obsessed with borders between countries. How do border communities interact with each other. Do they speak a common language even if their national language is different? Do they cross the border and shop nearby? What even are borders? Aren't they just imaginary concepts made by rulers several hundred years ago? Idk it's fascinating. Here are some of my favorite borders:
Netherland-Belgium

Norway- Russia

North Korea- South Korea

USA -Mexiko

Manzhoul/Zabaykalski: China - Russia

What are your favorite borders?

Bulgaria to turkey. I am always relieved when i see the turkish border after 2 days of driving from germany to turkey. It is a f---ing nightmare driving through the most ugly and dangerous places in europe to get to there.

Not borders between countries but there's a spot in the USA where you can stand in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado all at once. It's also funny cuz weed isn't legal in all of those states (tho I think Utah is the only one that doesn't have recreational weed at this point, thx Mormons) so you could commit a felony by walking in a circle at the monument lol
In Kansas City, there's also a street called State Line Road that divides Kansas City, Missouri from Kansas City, Kansas. They are directly connected but exist as different cities in different states, and Kansas City, Missouri is the major city of the two (shout out tech n9ne and @JFK).

@Chrollo in Belgium people actually speak Dutch. There is no "Belgium language" just an accent. The south part of Belgium speaks French.
Also, I live near the border with Germany. Most people here speak or at least understand German, a lot better than the people on the other side of the country. Same way w the germans close to the border w Holland.
If you listen to the accent in this area and germany on the other side of the border, there are also a lot of similar words.
