Praying to God is usually all some people have left, because of relatives being ill or dying.. If you believe there is something out there it makes it a little less painful, than the thought that your relatives are just going to be rotting in the ground and you will never see them again.

The thing with Holy Books... There are too many people doing all the bad s--- they want to do and using backwards logic to justify with ancient scriptures that are so vague and antiquated it has no meaning anymore.

ISIS is about as Islamic as the KKK is Christian. They just use religion. Their real agenda is political

It will never, and should never be banned. Society's importance of religion will slowly fade out over the next hundred+ years. Religious beliefs have already dropped 6.7% in the last 7 years.

There is a highly negative correlation between intelligence and importance of religion. The lower the IQ, the more religious that person is (generally), and vice versa.

I'm afraid as to what would happen if religion was finally disproven (probably never officially). These people literally need the threat of going to a fiery underground torture chamber to decide on making good or bad decisions. I imagine most people would simply live in denial.

It's only a problem when it causes other people harm. I don't care until it strips other people of their rights. At the same time, I don't think all religion is inherently bad. I don't care what anybody believes in. Every single person you know believes in various stupid/illogical things that you don't particularly agree with. Not to mention that atheists can be extremists as well. Anything can be co-opted and turned into a weapon.

I'm a lot less militant about the subject than I was at 15.

people can believe whatever they want. I don't care. it only pisses me off when people try to push their views onto other people or use it as an excuse to harm other people "in the name of god".

So where do you guys think religion came from? Was there a group of people that had a meeting around a roundtable discussing what would be the best option to control people and make them obedient? Were their intentions good and then got f----- later on? I mean what about the Bible? Did they really just go ahead and formulate a completely fictional story about mankind and the universes origins or is there some type of truth behind it with exagerration?

The Catholic church is a f---ing joke. Look all throughout history, they have been nothing but corrupt. And to think that a man can talk to their god........:dead:
Also, I find it funny that when the pedophilia that goes on was in the limelight, Christians didn't say s---. But if someone is gay or uses birth control, they all lose their minds.

I'm not religious, but I respect everyone's right to practice the religion of their choice.

What I do have a problem is, are people who force their beliefs onto others and even cause harm in order to achieve that.

For instance with the current situation of ISIS. If you want to join them and practice sharia law, then I'll gladly pack your bags for you, but don't you dare come back or try to commit homegrown terrorism. USA, UK, Canada and Australia will never practice sharia law.
