    People are really confused about the first amendment... and it's by design that you are being confused.

    Speech is free... but you can pay for your lies.

    The US government didn't lock Alex Jones in jail when he said that the Sandy Hook Massacre was a complete synthetic hoax... or when his on air reporters doxxed the parents of the 6 year-old kids that were ripped to shreds in their classroom... or when his infowarrior zombie listeners harassed the grieving parents by desecrating the children's memorial and pissing on their kids gravestones or constantly calling and messaging the parents and telling them they were going to k--- the parents and dig up the graves of the dead 6 year-olds and not letting up on the parents until they were forced to move multiple times and even commit suicide... the government never stopped Jones once... the government didn't even take Jones' show off of their FCC regulated airwaves when YouTube banned him.

    Defamation and Libel is Civil law... f----- up Right-Wingers want to live in a fantasy world with crises actors and inter-dimensional space demon vampires... well, that's stupid... because they don't exist... but lawyers and judges and juries do.

    I think he kinda put himself in a bad situation by not saying “in my opinion” or “it is my belief”

    he said “George Floyd died of fentynol” and proceeded to claim dude’s knee wasn’t on his neck.

    but I don’t know exactly how it works but I feel like by stating it as fact, it can be seen as defaming or damaging.

    If a cop killed your dad by kneeling on his neck for 10 minutes and Space Monkey said he wasn't really killed by the cop and actually died of a drug overdose... you wouldn't sue him... because he is a loser with no money and no influence.


    But if a billionaire went on a podcast with millions of listeners and said the same thing... then it made the 24 hour news cycle... you would sue... because the billionaire has money to lose and he publicly defamed your murdered father.

    i was under the impression that jones repeatedly made his claims and pushed the narrative to the Nth degree?

    I'm a little lost on the gray area, especially when you saw trump spread misinformation as fact d--- near every time he took the podium.
