Don't know if this has been discussed already but whatever. When did you first get into Em's music? How old were you and where did you first hear it from? Was just thinking about how long i've been a listener and realized it's been a pretty long time. He's actually the first artist i got into before discovering other artists, limewire and s---.

First time I heard some Em was very young, probably around 8 and it was around the time MMLP came out. It was at school. I still remember how popular and controversial it was. The lyrics that really stuck in my head was the "You can s--- my d-ck if you don't like my s---". Everybody was repeating that and it got me doing the same. One of the older kids got the bus driver to play his cd which had The Real Slim Shady on it.

Those are old memories, I really got into Eminem when TES came out, was around 10. One of my older friends had bought the CD and ripped me a copy. Listened through that album so many times, still my favorite to this day although I haven't played it in a while. It isn't as special as it was when it was brand new. Been following and keeping an ear out for his music since then.

A year or so after that when 8 mile and lose yourself came out, Listened to that track so many times. I had got a friend from class to write me the lyrics of the chorus. I knew almost all the lyrics. I didn't even have the song on CD. I had recorded it onto a cassette when it had passed on the radio and just kept rewinding and singing along to the track after that. Still remember all the lyrics from the first part of the song after all these years.

TLDR, so when did you guys first get into the music?

I remember seeing advertisements for the "Just Don't Give A f---" single in various Rap magazines back in like 1998 or 1999. I also read some small articles about him in those mags. When I first saw those ads, I kept thinking "who the f--- is this wigga?" Then the "My Name Is" video came out and basically took over MTV and even got "Buzz Clip" (MTV "Buzz Clip" videos were like popular videos from up-and-coming artists). When SSLP dropped I bought it the same day. Didn't like the album at first, thought it was some weird, White s---. Definitely not something I was accustomed to at the time. It eventually grew on me and I became a huge Em fan from SSLP to TES.

Well, I used to hate Eminem. When I was little my sister loved him, and she made a burnt cd of his music and gave it to my dad, he would play it all the time and I would scream and holler and beg him to turn it off, i was a little kid and didn't like the cussing. but he was my sisters favorite artist. And my dad liked him too so I had to suffer through it. Then my sister died. And my dad played the cd even more, over and over. I still didn't like it, I was less against it, I was a little older now, and then one day I'm sitting in the living room and my mom comes in and says hey come watch this music video(now mind you, my mom hated him more than me) and it was the music video for when I'm gone. That hit me hard and hooked me, from there I bought all his albums and started really listening. Been my favorite artist ever since. So I suppose it was my sister that got me into him.

Someone played Lose Yourself at a school ceremony, I was like 'what the f--- is this!?' so I made my mom take me to the store to get an Eminem album and she was like 'what does that parental advisory sticker mean?', I just said 'It mean its a really popular album' :'(:'(

When I first heard Eminem, I was about 10 years old. My cousin played "The Way I Am" and challenged me to memorize it within a hour. I remember hearing the SSLP for the first time on a ferry. "As The World Turns".. I thought it was the coldest shyt he's ever spit (aside from Kim). Still to this day I believe SSLP > MMLP.

First time I heard him was when the MMLP came out. One of my cousins bought it, and his younger brother and I listened to it straight through until our grandma came upstairs and got rid of it.

Back when I was 5 or 6 years old, I heard about Eminem for the first time and that's when I was in my grandmas, and the music channel was on and one of his songs came on. So that was the beginning of everything, that was the moment were God introduced someone into my life that changed it forever. I then grew up listening to his music, got obsessed, addicted and closer to him. His music changed my life forever. He inspires me, influences me and motivates me. He's the reason for the person I am today. He has become a part of me. When there was no one for me, He was always there, through his music. He's like a teacher, a master, a friend, a brother and a father which I never met. I realized that it was all destined to be and it was no coincidence, and it's something that God gave me, one of the greatest gifts from God to me is giving me Shady. I no longer consider or see myself as a fan, nor do I see Em as just an artist to me, but Shady is family, Shady is my family, and by that I don't just mean Eminem only, but the whole Shady crew and everyone there. He's been with me for over 10 Years. It's in the blood. That's how Shady made me. SHADY 'TILL MY DYING DAY!

(P.s) I'm not one of those crazy Stans that are Eminem wanna be'z (that try hard to copy him by acting and dressing exactly like him) which by the way are probably the type of stans Em wouldn't like. I think I heard him talk about such thing once long time ago...

But yea, and if Em's gone while I'm alive, a big part of me will die, and I'll probably be so depressed. Probably gonna suffer and go thru the similar thing that Em suffered when Proof was gone. I hope I really die before him because I obviously wouldn't stand hearing the news of him gone. Ok I've went a little far, so heartfelt & touching story, but oh well...

The first song I listened to was Without Me. I was just blown away by how effortlessly he made it seem.

That was in 2008. When Relapse came out the following year I made sure I got a copy. So Relapse was the first Eminem CD I bought, and that s--- was f----- up. I was like 13 years old and listening to songs like Medicine Ball and Insane.
