Not at all, I thought the word meant something else, that doesn't mean I'm blindly throwing words around. It means I'm ignorant to what a specific word meant. I thought I was using a synonym for genius (yes, I see the irony in my error) but the fact that I misspoke does not negate the fact that I feel you're defending a rapper not worthy of such high praise.

Can you move this to the music section @CharlieWork

Also @BNF i thought you were basically begging for people to give you concrete examples to work off of -- why'd you give up so easily when I did? I'm open minded m8, if you want to tell me why any of the 5 songs I showed you are bad, or how they sound like anything else on the radio, etc, you now have actual material you can reference to make your point

I had went to school, fam lol. I think...I will agree with song 4 out of the 5 you posted...I actually caught myself enjoying the flow. I won't front but for the life me I couldn't understand him. I shouldn't have to read lyrics to understand wtf is going on. Maybe for a few bars here and there, I get that, but ENTIRE songs?! Also, to say he LITERALLY sounds like no one on the radio, c'mon man. This n----- is jockin Lil Wayne like no other. That drawl and off key half sing/half rap s--- with the s-----y autotune use..I mean...he was gonna call the album Carter 6...wtf, lol?? I did listen to these songs and I WILL say that I CAN tell the difference but the styles are so similar it's like he has a piece of Weezy's f---in soul inside of him. I understand grabbing from influences but this n----- sounds too much like other artists. Future also comes to mind, or that dude who does Up On A Tuesday.

The song with Weezy. I defy you to find a person who isn't well-versed in Hip Hop to tell you if there are in fact two f---in people on that track, lol.
Like I said, I'm very open minded and I welcome this debate and I will say you convinced me on ONE front and that's the fact that he CAN have a unique flow here and there but to me, he sounds like everything else a majority of the time. From that drugged out drawl to the spit sort of quick then stop for a few seconds flow...he's just not unique to me. He's not really saying anything either, nothing clever. He talks about a life ya'll can't relate to so...I dunno why ya'll latched so heavily to the teat to suckle.

I can't cite anything because I don't listen to enough radio or pay attention to the artists of this generation (unless they have bars). Kendrick Lamar; now THAT'S someone deserving of high praise. Unique flow, great beat selection, he's actually saying something we can get behind and of course he has bars on bars on bars.Young Thug can get praise but only for cornering a market of dumb f---s stupid enough to feed into his act.

None of these videos prove him being worthy of such praise, they only prove (to me, obviously) my point. Like I said, I think we can agree to disagree as nothing you say with sway me and nothing I say will sway you. We are at an impasse.

Do the Elsa and let it go.

Im glad :) As Ive said, his delivery, flow, execution, etc are all a big part of what make him so great. And saying he sounded like all other rappers on the radio, or his flow wasnt varied and unique, etc, was clearly just a sign of not having heard enough of his material imo.

This is a horrible way to look at things. There are multiple, ENTIRE, genres, where I can't understand the vocalist. Maybe its a foreign language, maybe it just doesnt have any vocals in general, maybe its punk, maybe its hardcore, or post-hardcore, or metal, or even certain rock acts, and countless other genres. There are rappers who are 100% clear to understand but make no sense whatsoever to me at first, like Aesop Rock.

Starting and stopping your critique of thug at "i cant understand him!" is really short-sighted.

Thug speaks in the slang he was brought up with. Hes representative of his environment, his upbringing, his culture, his friends, family, etc.

And, to be perfectly fair with you, he ISNT that hard to understand. For anyone who's put in enough time into his music to be able to make claims like you do, he should be pretty easy to understand by now.

But I'm assuming, as you've basically admitted, you really arent that well versed in his work. Just going of your pre-existing stigma.

    1. Give me more examples
    2. Wayne hasn't sounded ANYTHING like Thug does on even just Barter 6 and its 10ish tracks, let alone the HUNDREDS Thug has done since 2013. If anything, Thug 100% started out impersonating Wayne (while adding his own accent and slang to it), but has been nothing short of utterly original for a while now.
    3. Wayne's Sorry for the Wait 2 is a Young Thug karaoke tape. 100% undeniable. Wayne sees that Thug's existence allows him even more freedom with the style he originally gave birth to, and its helping him get back on his s---.

A majority of this is really just your bias -- the differences you say you can tell, are the truth lol. The similarities you think you hear in the 5 songs i posted are non-existant to inconsequential, but if you want to point them out, Im game.

How does the guy you cant even understand, has a voice like youve never heard, etc etc, sound like everyone else?

Can you see how you're confusing yourself lol? I just think you're coming at this from not having a firm grasp on the topic and trying your best to make whatever you come across fit your narrative.

Not that you're being as close minded or thickheaded as most -- youre not, and I appreciate that. But to say that Thug is biting or taking influences from "that dude who does Up On A Tuesday" is false, disingenuous, misinformed, etc.

I just dont get how on one hand you can openly admit the things you havent heard, or arent well versed in etc, but then on the other the minute you think you have a small inkling of a point, you're acting like you've stumbled upon the truth -- like with this wayne s---.

if you've barely heard thug's discog, how can you say he bites Wayne for entire songs, they're identical etc. There really isn't even a good argument to be made for that out of the songs I listed you, Take Kare included.

How can you say he sounds like everything else and then in the same breath admit you dont stay up to date or listen to "everything else." Im very confused.

Also, the "nothing you say will sway me" etc act is very tired. Rational adults can learn from others if valid points are being made.

And if they're not, rational adults can point out to each other where they're being illogical.

    wow lol

this is what always happens with young thug "critics"

    >make unfounded claims

    >get confronted with counterclaims (which you can EASILY rebuke if what Im saying is false or offbase)

    >give up/act like you're getting trolled
