Oct 6, 2023 Drake singing for extended periods of time has never really excited me. He’s not that good of a vocalist & the writing is always very bland/repetitive when he sings. That being said, most of this is meh to me.
Oct 6, 2023 It’s an energy thing, cause same thing happens when he raps on automatic. When the energy is right, the song is dope.
Oct 6, 2023 I can appreciate bars when he’s rapping like on 8am in Charlotte. When he’s just singing for entire tracks, there’s nothing really there to appreciate because like I said, he’s not all that good of a vocalist. He utilizes his singing best when he meshes it with his rapping like he did on Rich Baby Daddy.
Oct 6, 2023 The production on the album is probably what won me over the most, but Drake’s performance didn’t bore me this time around like his last few albums
Oct 6, 2023 Came in hoping for a piece of work filled with First Person Shooter type of tracks and beats, left with the usual Drake project taste but I guess it sounds more like an album compared to his recent projects
Oct 6, 2023 We just have different definitions of auto pilot. Away From Home is Drake auto pilot rapping imo. When he’s on his Jay-Z slick s---, take subs at people, that’s generally when he’s at his best rapping imo.
Oct 6, 2023 admittedly haven’t heard the back half yet, ngl the halfway point is where i got kinda exhausted..i’ll tap back in tonight, i been hearing that too but that’s just so stupid to make the back half “better” tooo many intros, beat switches in random places that DID work on the 21 savage project but just don’t really click for me here, they mostly feel unnecessary..ultra slow records then a random hype beat 2 mins in lol pls
Oct 6, 2023 No question. Only one listen in and I think it's better than CLB (which imo was his laziest most autopilot album ever) but I don't think I'd put it above any of his other albums (edit: besides maybe scorpion) Honestly Nevermind and Her Loss were both ~15 songs and better for it cuz he trimmed the fat
