Dec 7, 2024 There’s too many X’s out there at this point, someone needs to start picking a different letter smh
Dec 8, 2024 @AOTWClub Ok folks heres the album for next week Killswitch Engage - Atonement My first pick was a classic french canadian rap album, but since nobody here speaks the language I figured it wouldn’t get the appreciation it deserves. So I went with my second pick, a metalcore album. Like I mentioned, given how few people here are into metal, let alone metalcore, I’m not sure many will vibe with it. I got into metalcore late around 2018 and Killswitch Engage quickly became my go to band for the genre. Along with Trivium, they’re two bands I turn to when I’m in the mood for this kind of music. This album is easily one of my favorites from 2019. Enjoy
Dec 8, 2024 I remember watching the Nuketown video by Ski Mask and Juice WRLD then going to bed, for some reason when I was going to bed I kept thinking about how at the time we had lost so many artists recently and I was scared who would be next. A few hours later, Juice passed. Was crazy waking up to that news
Dec 8, 2024 On a less somber note, my review will be in before the end of today (It’s 2:37 AM for me so sometime in the next 22-ish hours lol)
Dec 8, 2024 Nice. I don’t know the difference between metal and metalcore, so I guess I’m about to find out
Dec 8, 2024 Yeah sometimes I feel like we can subconsciously know when someone is about to die, it’s weird. With the way Juice WRLD was it was unfortunately a self-fulfilling prophecy. He knew he was going to die soon. I’d say XXXTENTACION knew the same thing. His song “Train food” that came out after his death eerily predicted the way he died. There’s also the case of speaking things into existence which I kinda believe in and that only gets more powerful when you put it into a song.
Dec 8, 2024 @AOTWClub @Wreckless has picked Killswitch Engage- Atonement Ripperroo: 7/10 Justin Trudeau: 5/10 Michael Myers: 6/10 Yeez: 6/10 Diggledogg: 6.5/10 Stepdad: 6.5/10 Jankland: 7.5 44.5/70= 6.3 Ill Tally up the Hot Mulligan album on Wednesday night so get your reviews in before then!
Dec 8, 2024 Metal is a broad genre and metalcore is just one of it's many subgenres. Jank had a metalcore pick a couple albums ago. Two very different bands of course.
Dec 8, 2024 First listen done already lol not sure what I think really. I struggle with the genre cause it's not what I really listen too. Not a bad first listen though tbh
Dec 8, 2024 @AOTWClub Hot Mulligan- Why Would I Watch The album was neither good or bad. Definitely not my cup of tea, but as far as pop punk goes it's solid and easy on the ears. It's got the youthful, emo'ish vibe that I expect from a pop punk album. While not many songs stood out to me as favorites I did like *cough* *c--- Party 2'' *cough*. Tough one to score. As a whole it was easy to listen but nothing really stood as as really good or bad. 6.5/10
Dec 8, 2024 shiet.. Yea it's definitely an acquired and takes some listens to get used to. I have their whole discography in my library. They're really great band.
Dec 8, 2024 Metalcore is my s--- but I haven't listened to much Killswitch outside of My Curse, excited to give this one a go!
Dec 8, 2024 You might appreciate some songs, though they are quite different from BMTH so it should be interesting. This isn't considered their best work. Most fans would say it's average or sits in the middle of their discography. "Alive or Just Breathing" & "End of Heartache" are their cult classics if you find any interest in diving deeper. Great albums. The former is the All Eyez On Me of Metalcore. It's a staple and played an important role in bringing the genre to mainstream. "The Curse" is from As Daylight Dies. It's a solid album and probably the most accessible one with the most ballads. It's less aggressive than the 2 I just mentionned. The band had 2 singers throughout it's existence. Jesse Leach who co-founded the band and left early on. And you got Howard Jones, P4P one of the best vocalists ever. Both talented and equally respected. Jesse Leach is the current vocalist and came back 10 years after leaving the band One of the songs on Atonement Is special cause for the first time you have both vocalists on the same track. And it's a b-----r And that's a wrap for the long a--- history lesson of the band.
Dec 8, 2024 Appreciate that I found something that you're jank level autist on genuinely. If I end up diving deeper in definitely gonna keep those projects in mind!
Dec 9, 2024 Why Would I Watch? - Hot Mulligan REVIEW Score: 7.0 Review: Honestly, I wish I liked it more. I enjoyed the project, don't get me wrong, but I wish I enjoyed it more because I feel like I should have lol. Great vibe all around from the entire project, I was just iffy on the vocals at some points. Instrumentation was dope, energy was there, songwriting on some songs were incredible (Betty), def some track titles that are unique and stand out. Maybe I have to give it some more listens or check out more from their discog.
