Jun 2, 2024 @AOTWClub last day to review Big Conspiracy by J Hus @Evad will be on the clock for this week's album
Jun 2, 2024 J Hus - Big Conspiracy Favorite songs: Helicopter, One and Only, Love Peace and Prosperity, Fortune Teller, Big Conspiracy Skips: No Denying (based on 1 listen so for what its worth) Overal thoughts: let me start out by praising the production on this. This is the ultimate album to just lay back and relax. Also has different sounds I like that. I'm a sucker for collabs like Helicopter and One And Only that has a nice female hook (without being generic or too poppy). Elle Mai and Icee are very good here. Triumph and Fortune Teller are f---ing bangers. As much as I dislike burner boy I can't just not vibe to that song lol. I'd be lying if I didn't have to get used to the accent but it doesn't really bother me. Definitely some songs I'm gonna download and add to my playlist! This was a good idea, 2 albums so far I never heard and are pretty cool! 7.5/10 @AOTWClub
Jun 2, 2024 J Hus - Big Conspiracy Top 3 fav songs are Triump, Helicopter and Must Be Skips: No Denying and Fortune Teller Review: Production is very chill and mellow and his rhyming is cool. He got a good voice and i think he is vers clever with the female r&b hooks. You can easily play this album next to everyone in the car. The only thing that i could criticize about it is its not that versatile it stays in the same mood. Perfect if you have the same mood ofc. Would rate it a 7,5/10 @AOTWClub
Jun 2, 2024 @Evad you are now on the clock if you don't tell us one by midnight eastern your week will be skipped!!!! Lol Don't worry ill just let you go next week if you don't go this week @Michael Myers if he doesn't reply you're up this week I'll just swap you two
Jun 2, 2024 Sorry I couldn’t get my review in for @hargydon's pick, site was down lol Evad’s Album of The Week Pick: Jpegmafia - All My Heroes Are Cornballs Album Cover: Description: JPEGMAFIA’s “All My Heroes Are Cornballs,” released in 2019, is an experimental hip-hop album that showcases the artist’s unique blend of abrasive production, eclectic sampling, and introspective lyrics. The album spans various themes, including social and political commentary, personal struggles, and critiques of the music industry. It features Peggy’s signature style, characterized by unconventional beats, glitchy soundscapes, and his dynamic vocal delivery. The project is both provocative and introspective, often blending humor with serious subject matter. It received critical acclaim for its innovation and complexity, solidifying JPEGMAFIA’s reputation as a forward-thinking artist in the hip-hop genre. @AOTWClub
Jun 2, 2024 Big Conspiracy - J. Hus REVIEW Score: 7.0 Tracklist Ranking: Must Be One and Only (ft. Ella Mai) Deeper Than Rap Helicopter (ft. iceè tgm) Cucumber Fortune Teller Reckless Fight for Your Right Play Play (ft. Burna Boy) Big Conspiracy (ft. iceè tgm) No Denying Repeat (ft. Koffee) Love, Peace and Prosperity Triumph First Listen Review: Sorry for getting this in so last minute, it’s been a hectic week on my end (and also the Em hype but we know about all that already). Here’s my review finally. I’ve heard J Hus’ name in passing, but not very often, so in all honesty I had forgotten about him. That’s not an insult to him at all, I just hadn’t seen his name in conversation in awhile, and we all know how crazy everything has been in the last few years. I actually realized while listening to the album, that he made the song Must Be. I never realized that this song was by him. I honestly think I heard it on iFruit radio on GTAV lol. Here, however, we have Big Conspiracy. I don’t think I have ever listened to an entire album of UK rap before, so this was definitely new for me. I do want to start by saying that the two features from iceè tgm at the start are both beautiful and have some great singing from iceè, it makes me want to dive into her music off rip. I’ve never heard of her before but now I would love to hear more. Now with Big Conspiracy, I like what I hear, I just don’t know if it is something I would constantly play. I’m more used to the harder sounding UK rap songs. No Denying is the kind of sound I went in expecting, but it just felt like whiplash to get this with the 9 previous tracks having a different sound to No Denying. Maybe I just have to be more in a mood to dance and chill out to fully embrace this album for what it is. Now I’m not shi--ing on the album at all, I actually enjoyed every song besides Triumph. I’m just not sure how often I’ll come back to this project as a whole, like I said earlier I feel like I’d have to be in a certain mood. Solid project however and a nice intro to J Hus! He might be someone who just has to grow on me as I continue to hear his music or explore his discog more. Thanks for the pick @hargydon! Jun 2, 2024 I want to participate!! Does the album that we analyzed have to be gene specific?? Old or new releases??
Jun 3, 2024 It can be any album you want. It can be new or old, it can be any genre. It’s just that so far people are picking rap albums
Jun 3, 2024 J Hus - Conspiracy 7/10. I normally cringe at the sound of an English accent in hip-hop. It just doesn't sit right with me. I guess because it's closer to home so the fantasy of the music isn't there. This was an exception though. The first 2 tracks especially stuck out to me and set the tone of what I was hoping to hear. I did feel like the album lost a bit of cohesiveness throughout the project but the start was so good it could almost be overlooked. I didn't get to spend as much time with this as the previous album but that's just personal circumstances but I'll listen to this again in the future, that's for sure. What I like about the idea of this thread is to listen to albums I wouldn't have chosen to. And this one was a good pick!
Jun 3, 2024 Peggy is getting closer but I'm really looking forward to someone jumping off the deep end with one of the picks lol
Jun 3, 2024 @hargydon @AOTWClub J Hus- The Big Conspiracy rating is in and it's a 7.1/10 Great pick, was a fun album! Album rankings can be found on the first post

Jun 3, 2024 I’d say our ratings and rankings are pretty spot on so far, let’s see how this Peggy album goes
Jun 3, 2024 JPEGMafia - All My heroes are cornballs Favorite tracks: Ptsd, Free from Frail? Least favorite: All I tried to approach this album with an open mind even though I wasn't expecting to like it based on what I've heard before. And despite my efforts, I couldn't find any redeeming qualities. Not a fan of the cover or the song titles. The music sounded like a bunch of noise to me. From an artistic standpoint, I struggle to see what makes this good. It feels like a collection of disjointed sounds. I felt similar about Yeezus the first time I heard it, but even Yeezus makes more sense to me and felt like a more cohesive experience. Perhaps there's something that i'm missing or that I didn't ''get'', but if understanding it requires enduring this sonic journey, I will pass. 3/10 @AOTWClub
Jun 3, 2024 Sorry about the harsh review btw I didn't want to give it a 0 to screw the score even though that's how much enjoyment I got from the album lol
