    Born To Boomer

As expected I enjoyed this quite a bit!

Princess Of The Night was a cool opener, don't believe I've heard it before but I love the guitar solo.

Black Dog is obviously a classic, not much to say here 10/10 song

I've never heard Queensryche before but Empire was a highlight really liked the whole vibe of it

I'm familiar with the name Type O Negative but not much of the music itself, Christian Woman was cool. I didn't like some of the hyper deep voice parts but it didn't impede any enjoyment, still very solid.

Albatross was f---ing dope, probably my favorite on the playlist outside of songs I've heard before. Exactly my type of rock music and I need to check out more of this band if this is the usual.

If Black Dog is a 10/10 then Everything Is Zen is an 11/10 for me, I've adored this song for a long time now and I'm happy to see Bush pop up on at least one of these playlists.

I need to listen to more Veruca Salt cause they're a classic band and although this song is vaguely familiar the only song I have saved is obviously Seether but Get Back was great, another highlight for me for sure.

Louie Louie was enjoyable, my brother has been getting very into Motörhead lately so it was good timing. Always enjoyed people making the instrument of their choice sound uniquely them and Lemmy has that on spades with his bass

I wasn't the biggest fan of True Belief but it's still a good song, I think it's a mood thing for me. I can see myself really liking this like 2 weeks from now lmao.

Doctor Doctor was a good reprieve into some very classic rock sounds, very enjoyable. Great stuff.

The vocal delivery on the Tiamat track is a little too theatrical for my taste but I adore the instrumentation, very talented even if they didn't hit exactly to my taste.

Black Lodge was dope, delivery was very Chris Cornell esque which I love.

Say Just Words was very fun, some 80s movie training montage type s---.

No Prayer For The Dying is when the theatrics of older rock/metal works for me, I can see your affinity to Iron Maiden they're great.

Dirty Boots is another thing that hit the sweet spot of my current mood musically, it went through a good evolution sonically whole keeping it's identity for the whole track. Really liked this one

I need to actually buckle down and listen to this Joy Division album, it was very moody and well put together. Solid choice for a closer although it's another mood listen where even though I liked it I can see myself loving it in the future!

Overall super super solid tape, I'm happy to have these eras of rock represented cause even if it wasn't in these corners of specific bands I grew up on this era of music so I'm always happy to listen to it!

Favorite Songs: Empire, Black Dog, Albatross, Everything Zen, Get Back, Dirty Boots

    RATING:
    9/10

I also tried to do this but halfway through I said f--- it and made a playlist of stuff that's been stuck in my head so a lot of it is well known (less for score whoring and more for personal enjoyment at least) lmao. Looking forward to giving your playlist a listen btw there's a lot of people I've been meaning to check out more of in here

    When The Blood Burns...

    @AOTWClub
    @Justin Trudeau

Quick review because I don't have much time this week.

I heard maybe a third of these before. I'm a big REM and Television fan, I was initially planning on putting some of their songs on my tape but I knew someone would beat me to it
    :503:

The songs I never heard before were mostly amazing. My one issue is a me problem; I don't usually enjoy songs with non-english singing. My favourite part of music is vocals and lyrics, so not understanding them makes it less enjoyable (except when it's Carti or Thugger). Overall, excellent tape and I added a few new songs to my playlists. It was structured pretty well with similar styled songs grouped together. Bonus points for trying to add lesser known songs

Exuding the foreign language songs would have been close to a 10 but I will give this a

    8/10

Thanks bud, I appreciate the long review lol

Albatross is definitely their best track. You might want to check out the song Clean my Wounds or maybe their greatest hits album.

Bush is dope. I've actually discovered this band recently. Literally as I was compiling this mixtape lmao

Tiamat is a distinct vibe for sure.

And Maiden of course is my favorite band of all time. Or top 3 at least.

I will have to dock you some points for picking Mainstream artists Outcast and R.E.M.

Seriously, i'm really looking forward to hearing this mixtape lol. I've never heard of 95% of these artists.

Btw I was surprised by the comment regarding picking classics as I figured nothing besides Black Dog on my mixtape was mainstream.

Even with Motorhead, Louie Louie probably wouldn't crack their top 15.

I guess there a few mildly popular ones though like Christian Woman but for the most part I made an effort to go with relatively unknown songs.

I think we shouldn't be too self concious about it unless you're going out of your way to building your mixtape using only popular bands and songs.

@Wreckless - Born to Boomer REVIEW

    Score: 10.0 (16/16)

What a start to round 2 of mixtape mania and a wonderful comeback story! From my least favorite mixtape last round to (potentially) my favorite in this round. Love the tracks on here, classics and deep cuts alike! Black Dog, Empire are some all timer tracks, and there’s some songs on here from familiar bands that I had never heard before. It truly was a great time listening to some old classics and hearing a lot of new songs in the process! I’m interested to see the song you thought would be divisive (if you didn’t already say it and I skimmed over it sometime in the last couple days), I have a few guesses of which track it could be. Anyways, awesome mixtape Wreckless!

Sweet baby Jesus, another 10 :emoji_open_mouth:

Feels like you guys are just showing some mercy after the last round. But seriously, I’m really glad you liked the tape!

The song from Tiamat. The entire album is filled with strange, psychedelic and atmospheric sounds, but that track is actually one of the more straightforward ones.

Ha that's funny, Everything Zen was one I threw in as a bit of a crowd pleaser. I thought the rock/grunge vibe with the catchy melody would land well.

But you're right about True Belief. That's another I knew wouldn't be for everyone.

It really shows how differently everyone experiences music

The problem is I have no idea what songs were mainstream back then lmao.

Obviously there's some songs you still hear a lot nowadays so they were & are huge but some I chose on my tape might be considered classics which I have no idea about lol

    When the blood burns

Great tape. I wasn’t expecting so many tracks in foreign languages, but they turned out to be surprisingly good. La Grasa de las Capitales is absolutely wild and I liked it a lot. I had no idea Kino - Gruppa Krovi was in GTA IV, especially since I’ve played that game so many times. The OutKast track reminded me that I need to give ATLiens another shot. I also really enjoyed the songs from Television and Jeff Buckley.

El Borrego was one track I didn’t really click with, but I respect the bold choice to include it. Waves of Fear didn’t do much for me either, and while the high-pitched vocals on Debra almost felt comical at times, the song itself was still pretty solid.

Overall it was a very solid mix.
