Jun 15, 2024 Melodrama - Lorde REVIEW Score: 8.5 Tracklist Ranking: Liability Sober II (Melodrama) Homemade Dynamite Sober Writer In The Dark Green Light Perfect Places Hard Feelings/Loveless Liability (Reprise) The Louvre Supercut First Listen Review: Melodrama! Wow! I really really liked this album. I don’t think I have heard any Lorde tracks since Royals and Ribs came out when I was 8, so I was excited to see part of the 11 years of music I missed out on from Lorde. Safe to say, I was very impressed. 45 minutes, 11 tracks, easy and pretty listen. I liked every track and I never really got bored, besides with Supercut which I liked, but it just didn’t hit like the other tracks did. I really dug the production on the project, and how some tracks would be big and explosive and others would be more chill. You can really see Lorde’s influence on artists like Olivia Rodrigo, in fact it made me curious to see if there were AI Olivia covers of Liability and Writer In The Dark. I feel like both of those songs would’ve fit very well on albums like SOUR and GUTS. I will see if I can find any and include them in this review in an edit. Anyways, like I said, this album is great! I’ll have to do some catch up with Lorde now. If Melodrama isn’t considered to be as good as Pure Heroine, then Pure Heroine might end up being a 10 for me. I haven’t heard much about her recent project, 2021’s Solar Power, but I’m still interested to give it a listen. Thanks for the pick @Michael Myers ! @Justin Trudeau @AOTWClub My Rankings So Far: 1. Jun 16, 2024 Lorde - Melodrama I feel like this is the kind of music I would like my daughter to be listening to when she turns 15 years old. How a grown man can enjoy this openly though I just don't get. I found I had to be very picky with the times I listened to this in case anyone was like "wtf are you listening to??". Sorry @Michael Myers each to their own but I just don't understand the lore. Anyway, the music was OK and much better than the train wreck of an album from the previous week! Beats went well with the melodies. So yeah, the music is good for what it is. It's just not for me. And personal feeling has just as much to do with the score as the quality of the actual music. 5/10.
Jun 16, 2024 I get what your saying and used to feel like that, I think my gf showing me some pop stuff made me a bit more open to it. I gave it a 7.5, I feel like my pop ratings might be a bit more generous than my hip hop ones will be because I can't see myself regularly wanting to listen to Lorde lol
Jun 16, 2024 Glad I picked this album tbh. Some people love it, others dislike it. Albums that we all love or hate is very boring. Also yes, I also rate albums based on how I like them. Sure u can appreciate albums even if its not your thing but being 100% objective is a myth.

Jun 16, 2024 Lorde - Melodrama I have a soft spot for Lorde since she's from my country, probably the biggest artist to come out of NZ. I liked this album when it came out but never really revisit it like I do for Pure Heroin. I'm not usually a fan of pop albums as they are usually a bunch of hits mixed with filler but this one is done very well. Nice production and flows well from start to finish. Too bad her last album s----d. My score is 7.5/10
