Sep 10, 2024 Travis Scott - Rodeo "Will He Make It? Was It Worth It? Did He Win? Will He Survive? The Rodeo" I was already very familiar with Rodeo before @DiggleDogg69 recommended it (GOATed pick) and I was excited to revisit it. I had actually just relistened to DBR in the past few days so I was probably going to relisten to the record soon enough. When talking about Rodeo, it's worth mentioning that this is Travis at the peak of his come-up. He wasn't an underground artist anymore, but he wasn't at the point of having McDonald's meals and doing movie soundtracks yet. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this here before, but I'm from the South, which means that I'm slightly bias towards Southern rap. As a result, Rodeo is an absolute goldmine. Future, 2 Chainz, Juicy J, p---- C samples, THUGGER etc. Every single guest on the record is amazing (Even if TikTok is making "Nightcrawler" a meme, it's still an absolute b-----r) and oh my god the beats. There is not a single beat on this record that's anything less than stellar. Some obvious highlights are Oh My Dis Side, 3500, 90210 and Nightcrawler. Then, there's Travis himself. A lot of people (even ITT) frequently point out that while Travis is a master at creating atmospheres through songs, his lyrics don't always match that level. With that being said, I think Rodeo is Travis' peak as a rapper. Some of his best verses in his entire career are on this record (Pornography, Apple Pie, 90210). There's also a clear theme all throughout the record. In a lot of ways, Rodeo is sort of a loose concept album. Travis going from "...look at little Scotty now..." (Piss On Your Grave) to risking it all in order to chase success (Apple Pie) clearly shows Travis' career up to this point and in a lot of ways it might be his most personal album. I'm already very familiar with Travis so aside from revisiting his discog (it's been some time since I've bumped ASTROWORLD) there's not much I can do except wait for what he drops next. Amazing album and I'm glad it got recommended here. FAVORITES: The Entire Album RATING: 10 @AOTWClub
Sep 11, 2024 Travis Scott - Rodeo Favorite tracks: Pornography, 90210, Pray 4 Love, Piss On Your Grave, Maria I’m Drunk OVERALL RATING: 9/10 Some of Travis’s best work. He’s one of those artists that creates a world with his music. A lot of these songs just have that vibe to it where you can party to it or chill to it on night drives. Not every song is perfect nor is Travis’s rapping but the vibes, instrumentals, and song structures are ear candy. There’s a lot of goated features here too like Young Thug, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, etc. I don’t have a lot of issues with this so I have no choice but to give it at least a 9. This sound isn’t for everybody but I personally don’t have much to criticize here. @AOTWClub
Sep 11, 2024 @AOTWClub Atmosphere has tallied a 5.9 and is in 11th place! Was one of our most decisive albums! Great pick @Gimp , hadn't listened to an album by Atmosphere before.
Sep 12, 2024 It is kinda monotone but like I said in the other thread; Kendrick when he has someting to say>>>> poems about his tranny granny I love his new song and I'm usually not a fan at all. This beef changed him!
Sep 12, 2024 Travis Scott - Rodeo I have to admit I've been kind of a Travis Scott hater in the past. Not a huge fan of his style, especially when he's on other people's songs. I skimmed through this album when it dropped, so I must say listening to the whole thing was a pleasant surprise! I do stand by the fact that Travis himself isn't that interesting to me, or that good even. But this album really feels like an anthem, or a collection of anthems. Some of the features on here really steal the show (Weeknd, Juicy J, Chief Keef and obviously Biebs) and some are f---ing awful (Kanye and Quavo) and it does rely a lot on the production. But Travis style does fit this production a lot so even his solo songs like I Can Tell, Impossible and Apple Pie I enjoy a lot! Honestly the only songs I don't like at all are the Kanye collab and the one that gets ruined by the awful amigos. The beat switch on 90210 was a dope surprise! Really cool album, I actually downloaded it! Fav songs: Nightcrawler, Flying High, Pray 4 Love, Maria I'm Drunk, I Can Tell. Rating, I can hardly believe this myself.. 7.5/10
