    @AOTWClub I apologize @Justin Trudeau I wasn't familiar with your game.

I've obviously heard Manson throughout the years and different singles and such but going into my first full project by him I was interested to see how'd a complete experience would work for me.

First things first I really like the way the album sounds, a lot of the guitars, drums and melodies chosen really gives it a 90s edgy movie soundtrack vibe that I really like lol.

I like Marilyn's voice and think it fits very well with the music he tries to make, the lyrics are pretty much what I expected a little f----- up albeit entertaining imagery.

My main complaint for the album is that somewhere in the middle the soundscapes of the song start losing me slightly but It's not cause they're bad they just sometimes overstay their welcome for like a minute and it's mostly just a reaction to me loving the first few tracks so much! For example "If I Was Your Vampire" is probably one of my favorite songs I've heard from this club as a whole so far

Justin made the right call thinking I'd like this album for sure, makes me interested in his earlier projects too!

Favorite Tracks: If I Was Your Vampire, Putting Holes In Happiness, The Red Carpet Grave, They Said That h---'s Not Hot, EAT ME, DRINK ME.

    RATING:
    7.7/10

I'd honestly start at the start of his discography and go through it all from "portrait of an American family" to his current stuff

All of his albums even the ones that aren't great have some good tracks on them

"Smells like children" is an ep from early in his career that's bizarre like truly a f---ing weirdo EP but contains "Sweet Dreams" which is a great song

    Anyways glad you enjoyed it!

Also "if I was your vampire" is f---ing awesome, he opened with it when i saw him in concert

Also I can excuse the business especially around the holiday rush time of the year but you f---ers better not p---- out when the picks start getting weird

Just like with my last pick, there is some great timing involved. This artist is also dropping a new album very soon just like my last artist. Today is also the first day of fall and this artist refers to himself as the king of the fall. So with this in mind, and this being widely agreed upon to be some of his best work, the timing feels just right.

The Weeknd - House of Balloons

I’m sure you’ve all heard his big pop hits but I’m not sure how many of you have heard his beginnings. It’s a lot different, he wasn’t always a pop star. With The Weeknd’s newest album supposedly being the death of his “The Weeknd” character, I figured it’s important to show people the beginning. If you’re not a fan of his current music you might like this better.

This was originally a mixtape not on streaming services but then was put under a compilation called “Trilogy” with 2 other mixtapes. But now this mixtape is on streaming on its own. On Apple Music it’s “House of Balloons (Original)” on Spotify it’s “House Of Balloons - Original”. The Weeknd is one of my favorite singers so I hope yall enjoy!

Yup, our conversation is what helped cement this pick for me. I think his whole discography is great, so you’re in for an amazing odyssey. I don’t know how everyone will like this mixtape, but I think you will like it

Marilyn Manson - Eat Me, Drink Me

    The Bangers:

    Putting Holes in Happiness
They Said That h---'s Not Hot
Heart Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand)
Mutilation is the Most Sincere Form of Flattery

    The Good:

    If I Was Your Vampire
    The Red Carpet Grave
    Eat Me, Drink Me

    The Bad:
    Just a Car Crash Away

I was pleasantly surprised by the alternative rock sound and 'clean vocals' as I was expecting something gothic or black metal.

The album starts off flawlessly, the first 4 songs are all keepers. Just a Car Crash Away is a skip for me but then it’s quickly followed by another standout track.

Aside from that, I don’t have much else to add. It's a really solid album. There are a few weaker tracks in the second half but I appreciate that the album isn’t too long.

I usually add songs to my library selectively to avoid cluttering it with tracks I don't enjoy. Then there are times when it makes more sense to preserve an entire album when more than half the songs are good. This is one of those albums.

    7.8/10

EAT ME, DRINK ME - Marilyn Manson REVIEW

    Score: 6.0

    Review:

Yet again another artist I grew up around, yet had never listened to a full album of theirs. I haven't heard as much of Marilyn Manson's music as I had, say Three 6 Mafia's, I had only really heard the hits such as The Beautiful People, his Sweet Dreams cover, The Dope Show, etc. Also, the Family Guy episode that had him in it. Anyways, I sort of knew what to expect with this album in terms of his voice and the type of music he created. I would like to say, his voice is dope. I have always thought he had a nice voice and knew how to use it in his music. However, this album really didn't do that much for me. I took a handful of songs away from the album, but at points I was just sort of...uninterested? I'm not sure if that's the word I'm really looking for, but it is the best I can think of right now. I guess I'm just more into his older songs. Pretty sure the 3 I named at the start are all on his greatest hits compilation that came out in '04, so all were older than the songs that were on this album. I did some looking, and this album is seen as one of his weaker projects, and I get it. Not awful, not great, just slightly above average. Thanks for the pick @Justin Trudeau !

I'm actually ahead on work this week for school so I might have in the next album review much earlier in the week than I usually do! Also, it is an album I have been excited to listen to for awhile so I'm incredibly antsy to get to it haha
