    I didn't know you were bisexual. Regardless, it doesn't change anything. Congrats tho man! I'm sure it felt great to get off your chest and I'm sure your mom will come around eventually.

    I haven't gone through anything similar, but my grandpa didn't even go to his granddaughter's wedding because she was marrying a girl... There will always be unaccepting people out there but f--- em.

    My mom has told me before that she's fine with whoever I date, "as long as it's not a man."

    Parents want to be close with their kids. So I can't understand why they ever give their kids reasons like this to keep part of who they are from them. They don't want to know what their kids are really like? I'm not gay, but all I could think about was how crushing that would have been to hear if I were.

    My mom is a sweetheart. The last thing she'd ever want to do would be to hurt her kid. And yet she said that. And parents say s--- like that to their kids every day, forcing them into the closet and driving them to all sorts of dark places.

    Good for you coming out like that. I'm not sure I'd be able to come out to my mom. I'd be interested in knowing how things are with you and your mom once she's processed it.

    I told her over the phone that I was bisexual. She got pretty mad and started throwing religion into the conversation. Felt like getting it off of my chest and didn't know who else I could confide in. Anybody else been through anything similar?

    I don't mind. She was on a conservative tear about something as usual and I just confronted her with it.
    My girlfriend and I regularly hook up with a third party. Sometimes a guy. Sometimes a girl.

    Thanks for the support. I wouldn't expect somebody like my grandfather (born in the 30s) to really understand it, but it's just disheartening seeing somebody less removed from my generation not understand. I mean, we both like Prince's music. At least that's something.
