Jul 12, 2024I agree 100%. He just didn't have the balls to really diss himself- or he doesn't have the lucidity anymore, which would be sad but very plausible

This album is an awesome execution of what happens when you have a person with lots of money, time, and the resources (the original masters and recordings), and some creativity still in the noggin to fuel the process...
It starts off strong. Not just because it sounds like Eminem from 2000, but because the beats are good and I can understand him. The concept is pretty weak, I feel like Slim Shady would have gone HARD against modern Eminem, instead of the weak little "you're a p---- now" comments. No comments about how he sold out with Recovery, Revival, how MMLP2 was a weak effort? Feel like he could have gave the fans a bit more of what they wanted, Eminem digging into himself more, and he'd have the last laugh with this superb album. f---, give the Relapse fans something at least, I feel like Slim would have loved that album.
I got to the end of Guilty Conscience 2 and that's when I finally went..."OK...that was...OK." You realize you just went through like 9 tracks, and Slim was on most, and he did have some crazy lines...but I wanted more. I realize Eminem probably realized no other legitimate, famous rapper is interested in beefing with him, but man it's kinda boring when he's just attacking crowds, and the fact one of the skits was this news event about how mobs are forming to protest him...The Cosby, Epstein, Diddy and Cassie, Amber Heard lines all went hard. Just surprised how little he actually went at people.
I barely got through Head Honcho, Temporary does not fit on this album, and I literally stopped 1 minute into Bad One. I'll eventually resume it. I really wish this album was just Eminem and Shady. Everyone else on this album just sounds out of place. Like this should have been JUST Eminem.
I've said this before but I'll reiterate. He should not have revealed that it's a "concept" album. The precedent he set was too high. Maybe a 10 track could be a nice concept album, but he has way too many tracks here. He should have just let us figure it out.
First impression: Tracks 1-11 (excluding skits) are all great, superb even, but everything after...well...maybe I'll sleep on it and feel more positive about em...(get it?)Last edited: Jul 12, 2024Victim, n9ne, Zeugma and 1 other person like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

That whole bit about onset diabetes and how we should "coddle" people, just speaking the absolute truth about how backwards everything is nowadays.
Man this album is a f---ing classic. Really feels like authentic Eminem, we've been hearing for the past few years how he's the best and this and that but never really had much insight into how he feels about society as a whole. I'm glad he had the balls to say some of the stuff he said on this album.
