I'll #NeverForget a random (Rolling Stone?) Em article I read in '02, when he said one of the main things he prides himself on as an artist is evolving from one project to another. This quote struck a chord with me; I initially found it straight up cool/intriguing.

I remember when Encore dropped, thinking to myself, "Wow, how's he gonna evolve from *this*?"

idk How he did it, but he's definitely done it (evolved with each album, to the point where as a fan I can hear any leaked/featured track from any given time period and immediately pinpoint the timeframe it was recorded)

Anyway, I dig how he's kept his word and continually done that! No project sounds the same!
