Snoop doesn't write his own lyrics and danced in Candy Land with Katy Perry. Every successful artist is a sell out by definition, but if you think Snoop and Em are close in that way you're smoking crack. -

Snoop and it's not even close. Snoop was probably the greatest rapper on the planet in 1992-93, and dropped Doggystyle right out the gate. Doggystyle is an undeniable classic. One of the Top 5 rap albums of all-time, and in my opinion, better than ANY of Eminem's albums. Not to mention his contributions to The Chronic, arguably the most important rap album ever. Even though it was technically a Dr. Dre album, Snoop was on that album just as much as Dre if not more. That was his peak, now for his fall off. Just lastnight I went back and listened to Tha Doggfather, Snoop's second album and followup to The Chronic/Doggystyle. To say the album is bad is an understatement. Except for a few good tracks towards the CD this project is absolutely abysmal. I almost fell asleep listening to it. It's far worse than any album Eminem has ever dropped. And even with that being said, it's still one of Snoop's better solo albums. His No Limit years were unlistenable and he's been hit & miss ever since. Besides his classic Doggystyle, and the great and very underrated Tha Last Meal (dropped in 2000 shorty after Chronic 2001, Up In Smoke, etc) every other one of his albums have hovered between average and downright terrible. He's put out more filler over the past 15 years than any other rapper in the game.
Now on to Eminem. While he definitely fell off as well it was nowhere near as drastic. His first three albums were all undeniable classics. And in 2002 he was easily the greatest rapper on the planet, dropping The Eminem Show as well as the 8 Mile movie and soundtrack in the span of six months. Then came the drug addiction and the fall off. Encore and Relapse were both bad albums, but nowhere near as bad as Snoop's worst projects. Even Eminem's worst albums have always had a handful of gems on them. I definitely can't say this about Snoop's albums. In 2010 Em dropped Recovery, easily his best work since 8 Mile, regaining his status as one of the best in the game. His recent years have been up and down but are still far better than where he was at a decade ago at the peak of addiction. Bottom line: Eminem is still putting out good, relevant music. Snoop isn't.Last edited: Sep 2, 2015 -
