    these guys are undoubtedly two of the best artists of all-time across any genre. they both have multiple albums that are EXCELLENT, particularly purple rain and thriller. they both did pop music. great comparison.

    for me, i'd say prince, mainly because of all the instruments he can play and how well he can play them. but michael jackson had better stage presence. it's a tough pick, but i'd go prince by a hair.

    That whole Purple Rain album was great, I'd post YT videos for some interested but Prince doesn't allow his music posted online.

    i saw prince in concert in baltimore on mothers day, it was incredible. best concert i've ever been to. he performed all the songs you named. he also did 1999,, which is a personal fav of mine

    surprised this thread didn't get more replies........then again most ppl on this forum are very young and these two guys are 80s artists....so maybe that's it

    I'm only 17 dude, one of the more younger ones here but I guess I have a more diverse taste than most kids my age. I've seen videos of Prince's concerts and they looked like they would have been great to be at.

    Tough, tough. Imma go with MJ, on the side that besides all this personal issues, he made one of the greatest songs of all time. that song was called "Earth Song" :banderas:

    They're also two of the best of their genre who, as the op says, excelled on different things, had a different sound and both of them released amazing records. It's not a comparison, it's personal preference.

    I'll give it to Michael. Both are great, and Prince is arguably more consistent, but I think Michael's catalog has much higher highs, and more of them.

    Honestly I have never listened to Prince. So I have to go with MJ. But maybe I'll check him out.
