As I'm sure i've told quite a few you, I used to run a lot. However, I hurt my right knee back in late march. I've being going to physical therapy for the past couple of months and got cleared to start running again, my knee still bothers me but I've regained stability and form which is the most important thing for me. After two weeks of slow running on the treadmill I decided to test my knee, I went for my usual short run that I had been doing for the last few months prior to getting hurt.
The stability and form were there, but my knee still bothered me. Overall the run was great since it was my first outside run in over 2 months, I tried to keep my pace at 11 minutes per mile but its tough to control speed off the treadmill. My knee's sore right now but I'm icing it, it's a Beautiful Pain
I'll go back to the gym the rest of the week and continue building up my mileage this week. I'm currently at 2 miles at 5.3 speed on the treadmill , which is like an 11 minute pace. I'll be increasing my treadmill mileage by .5 miles every week, and doing this run here to test my knee strength every week. Hoping to be back to running halfs at my regular speed by September.

Hey guys, race went pretty well overall. I didn't have any high expectations since I went in heavier than usual and I hadn't done anything for a week so i didn't know how my knee would respond. Knee was pretty good during the run, only bothered me a couple of times here and there, but I expected it. I ended up with a 8:07 pace and placed alright. The race itself was super cool though, since I had only done halfs and a 10k prior to this, I'm usually one of the youngest ones. This wasn't the case this time though, I ran past a couple of 12 year olds in the race and there were even a couple who finished ahead. I lady ran with her two kids. Great atmosphere, probably second most fun race out of the 4 I've ran so far. Here are the results and pics.
This is when we were going into the ferry
Everyone getting off the ferry
Me heading toward the race, shoutout to my mom for the pic
Everyone getting in their pre-race poops
Me losing to two older dudes by 1 second =(
Waiting for ferry back to the city

Ran my third half marathon yesterday. This course was tough -- multiple hills at the end, as well as a final, hot stretch of highway. -

@Nori, I hope your knee gets gets stronger soon so you can just focus on the running. I do weights at home so I'll have to look into some some that focus on those muscles. I'll always try running on grass if I can for a softer landing to help. I've never heard of Saucony. I love Nikes as daily shoes for some reason though I feel weary buying a pair for running. I definitely find running therapeutic, it's like it's own form of meditation.I feel like my mind goes completely blank, I'm not thinking about anything but just being.
@Loyalty that's really lucky to be so close to an outlet and get such great prices. Do you own a nice collection of running sneakers to rotate through?
@rapmusik Mornings runs are definitely better, I'll always be super happy and bouncy for the rest of the day on runs days. -

Been running 2-3 miles almost everyday with my roommate. It's 98 degrees outside. Basically torture.

So basically I've been sick since last Friday, I had to call out of work and I've doing emotional eating since I'm bummed by the fact that I haven't been able to run. Luckily I had sick days at both jobs. Felt much better yesterday and feeling alright today. I probably won't be a %100 tomorrow but I'm not gonna let it spoil my fun. I ate pretty well today compared to this whole past week. Went and picked up my package today since race-day pickup ins't available for this race due to security reasons.

Vacationing in California this week and I went on a run in Pasadena.. There were like 30 peacocks just roaming the streets in the neighborhood, it was very cool. I cut my run short just cuz I kept having to stop to take pics of peacocks.

I didn't go to the gym today since I have physical therapy later on, so I went for a somewhat easy run around the town. My inner thighs are still sore as f--- from Monday's run, I've been on the treadmill so long I forgot how much of a pain going uphill is. Knee was like always, I'm running fine but it bothers me still. I'll probably skip running tomorrow at the gym and make up my time on the elliptical just to give my cartilage some rest. Got a GoPro the other day and was able to capture some footage this morning.

I made some interesting transitions when it comes to running. I was always a sprinter when I ran in high school and college, but when I joined the Air Force, I had to get used to running 3km. I hated running long distance. I tried it in middle school and came in dead last in my first race. I quit the next day...
Fast forward to me now being 29, I average 3 to 5km a day just to keep myself in shape along with my martial arts. I never thought I would do any type of long distance running, but it's actually therapeutic and I enjoy doing it now. -

That bike trail looks nice - especially through the tunnel. I wish we had more like that around where I live. I usually end up running on the sidewalks on the main road unless I want to drive to a park with a trail. Your run times are good as usual, that's awesome how much you're staying on top of running and PT. Definitely take pics of your 5k and share your times, it sounds fun! I have done two 5k's this year, and now I probably won't do one til the fall since there aren't any good ones now since the AZ heat is too much for most people. @Nori
I still haven't run since the 16th unfortunately. I did do a 14 mile overnight hike through a canyon this weekend, which was pretty tough but very fun. I know it's not on-topic to running but here is a picture from my instagram:
The hike was through the water like that like 80% of the time, so even though it was over 100 degrees it helped to keep us cool.
Anyway, hopefully tomorrow I will have a run to talk about.Final, CODEiNE DEMON, Mimi and 3 others like this. -

Rest days are over!
I went to the gym yesterday and put in a solid hour and a half workout. My knee felt great! It kinda got sore later on though cause I had to go to work where I pick up heavy stuff. Still making progress.
Went for a 4 miler today before PT. Overall decent run. I started off too hard and got tired about halfway into the run. My thighs weren't as sore since I did 3 outside runs last week, I guess they're getting re-accustomed to the uneven surfaces. Stamina is returning pretty quickly like it usually does, that was the main reason for me slowing down in this run. I did pretty well at physical therapy afterward as well.
I miss doing races so I'm thinking about signing up for a few 5Ks (3 miles) throughout the summer to stay competitive. There's one going on at Governor's Island on 4th of July, I'll probably sign up. If I do, I'll take pics for you guys.
Anyways, here's the stats and a vid. Its on a bike trail that runs all throughout the county, pretty calm and relaxing atmosphere. It's my favorite place to run during the fall.
