I did 2 miles on a treadmill today. First time running on a treadmill. I liked it for the most part but i was pretty bored. There was no scenery to go running past and i forgot my ipod so i wasnt able to listen to any music either.

Wow it's been a while guys. I don't think I ever followed up with you, but anyways here it goes. After my MRI which stated that I had a torn meniscus and bursitis in the same knee, I went to a sports medicine specialist. He twisted my knee and reviewed my MRI with me and said he didn't see anything. Told me that if my meniscus was torn I woulda felt some serious pain the way he was messing with my knee. I thought something was off too since my knee which was supposed to have bursitis wasn't swollen or anything. Anyways that was beginning of September. He told me to keep weight off it for a month, so no more leg press, calf extensions and heavy lifting. Ended up taking it easy somewhat and knee started to feel better but every time I went to my produce job where I have to pick up 50 pound sacks of potatoes and s---, my knee would flare back up. After about a month of debating whether I wanna ball out and not be able to run, or budget and run happily again, I went with running. Turned in my two weeks notice about two weeks ago and today's my last day on the job. School's been much harder this semester anyways and there's no way I coulda pulled off 40+ hours and full time school. Especially with the kind of classes I'm taking now. I'll probably just focus on my core and keep in the gym for October, then try running again in November. Really excited to see what happens. Here's a picture of my two medals I was just looking at, looking at them reassured me I made the right choice =]

That's great to hear about your knee! And good thinking quitting that job. If all it takes is keeping off it for a month, then hopefully you'll be running again soon :emoji_thumbsup: You should def focus on school anyway. Love the medals too, good collection so far. I'm still sitting at 1, til my half in January:

I forgot about this thread :emoji_flushed: I've been running steadily all month, I think I'm at about 25 miles for September. Not too much, because it's still 100+ degrees here and I have to run outdoors. Can't wait for it to cool down.

Officially starting my half-marathon training today, a week early. I figure if I post my run in this thread it'll make it official, and I won't back out and put off training til next week (like I've done 3 weeks in a row).

My iTunes is kinda messy :emoji_flushed:

Not the best run, but it felt pretty good considering it was 92 degrees out still.

@Mimi it looks like you and I are the only runners left at the moment. Are you training for anything? Or just trying to be healthy?

Just running to be healthy, plus I have a cattle dog and he needs the runs more than I do so it's great motivation to get out. I would love to do a half at some point but I dont know if i'd be able to get my times down to something reasonable. How's your training going?

That's great! And I think the half marathon time limit is 4 hours usually, some people even powerwalk the whole thing, so I am sure you already qualify if you wanted to. My training is okay, just a week in so far trying to build stamina. But the temperatures are finally cooling down here, high of 78 today so I can comfortably run outside :)

    This thread :mjcry:

Yeah, after giving it plenty rest my knee is still messed up. Pretty sure the radiologist was right and my s--- is torn. I'm just waiting until after the holidays to get surgery cause I don't want to stress my parents out with the bill. I think its like 20,000 dollars but after my dads insurance it should be like 4000 something. See you guys in March hopefully.

Oh wow, if people powerwalk it then yeah, I'm sure I would be fine! I was considering doing the TCS Amsterdam one last year but even then still didn't feel confident enough. I just need to find some people irl who enjoy running and will push me into it.

How is the stamina going, what is your training schedule like? Great that the weather is becoming easier to run in, it makes such a difference. But it's a tricky balance, dont want it too hot or too cold, I dont know about you but my fingers and toes get painfully cold in winter.

Oh Nori, I'm so sorry to hear. That is a ridiculous amount of money, I hope your parents aren't too blown away, at least 4000 is no where near as bad, still a bit, but a lot more doable.
We'll keep running for you :emoji_heart:

I wish I had the money to buy you a bionic knee so you could run :emoji_slight_frown:

Yeah it's much more fun and motivating if you have someone else to join you in the training, and the events leading up to the actual half marathon where they give out a bunch of free stuff!

Stamina progress is okay, today I was scheduled to do 5x400 meter runs at a steady pace, it went pretty well. I just wish I could run all 13 miles that fast, haha

But lately my pace for longer runs (3-4 miles) is around 9:30 which I want to get down by like a full minute. The training schedule itself is 6 days a week - 4 run days, 1 strength day, 1 run+strength day.

But I agree with you about the weather! It did get so cold suddenly, I have to wear a winter hat when I run now that early :ermm:

d--- it is tough keeping up with running. Been using the treadmill more than anything lately. Haven't been able to do much more than 2 miles though before I get bored
