Lana Del Rey. I like a good few of songs by Lorde but Lana outclasses her.

Lorde is definitely a better songwriter. She touches a lot of more interesting topics in her songs and despite being underage she is far more mature than Lana. On the other hand, her songs don't have a lot of replay value, what is a major problem with Lorde's music imo. She is still young (unfortunately not beautiful) that's why she still has a lot of time to fix this problem. I can't say the same thing about Lana. She has improved since Born To Die, if it comes to crafting better sounding songs with much more polished lyrics, but still some of her lines are full of corniness. Ironically, that corniness along with cinematic vibe of her music is her strength, so I'm not surprised she doesn't want to change it.

As for now, I can't decide who overall is a better artist. Lorde needs to release new music. She has only one album out.

Lana right now, but her catalogue of music is a lot more extensive than Lorde's. We'll see what happens with Lorde's next project

^ Agreed I enjoy Lana's music more but Lorde has yet to release a second album. While Lana is about to release her 4th (Excluding the EP)
