Jun 23, 2015Probably my peak Stan period. Lot of memories with this album, including but not limited to:
- Forever dropping. I hated Drake/Wayne and thought the entire premise of Eminem on a song with those scrubs was completely unacceptable. Then I heard his verse on my phone while working at Blockbuster. Swoon. His new double-time style was finally a fresh change from the accent.
- Making that fake Recovery album cover, which the entire internet thought was real for a week. Real detail went into editing the bulge in Marshall's pants.
- Despicable Freestyle dropping out of nowhere. No accent. Everyone thought it was the best thing since The Warning.
- Not Afraid audio premiering on Rap Radar. Listened to it on repeat all d--- day. Is this Lose Yourself v2?
- Won't Back Down comes out. It's okay. Why are the verses mixed so poorly? Is this wordplay creative or forced? I can't tell guys.
- Album leaks. I notify my fellow stans. Laying on my bed, listening intently. Those first few seconds of Cold Wind Blows. Whew.
- Eminem dissing Wayne on No Love? Come on, I swear he is.
- Listened to Space Bound religiously to cope with a breakup, because Eminem gets me.
- Literally couldn't go anywhere without hearing Love The Way You Lie.
- Making the trip to Detroit with one of my best friends to watch Eminem + Jay Z at Comerica Park. We knew every word from Recovery already, because what else is there to do besides listen to Eminem all day.
Looking back, shouting awful metaphors wasn't the worst Eminem. I almost miss it.

I wanted to hate this album so bad when it was in its inception. I remember thinking, I will not be disappointed by another MM CD. So I just decided to say f--- it and hate on Mellow like ever1 else. Then the album drop. My gawd. I have never been so moved. The production, passion , intensity...the horror rap screaming was near extinction. I was amazed. I feel like I'm visiting a friends grave when I listen to this cd. Timeless. -

Has the most replay value out of all his post-hiatus albums imo. Some decent tracks on there and is over-hated way too much.YiT, FlawlessT, Ordinary Joel and 4 others like this. -

Thinking about Recovery, that era gave us Airplanes pt. 2.

All you people that complained about the d--- yelling after we FINALLY got rid of the accent are the cause of current Eminem.
Since we all know he's super-sensitive, he started his quiet voice flow (Slaughterhouse album era) which led to his start/stop choppy flow.Groovy Tony, SLAYAR, M Solo and 1 other person like this. -

Recovery ear did give us Airplanes part 2 verse which to me is one of his best verses since TES. The passion. The energy. That FLOW. If we had a whole album of that it would be amazing. -

Recovery has it's good and bad qualities.
Good:
Content
Flow
Going Through Changes (10/10)
New Maturity
Focused Direction
And the bad...
First time working with Alex Da Kid and DJ Khalil
Cringeworthy punchlines
Delivery on several tracks
Rhianna
Awful track-placing
It's funny, everyone blasted Recovery when it dropped, and now is calling it a classic. It's the opposite of MMLP2, which while suffering from plenty of issues, is not as horrid as @Arch Dogg claims it is. Recovery, did everything right that MMLP2 got wrong. Everyone took Recovery Em for granted and wanted Slim Shady back, well...guess what dumbasses? you got him! Now your whining about how awful MMLP2 is and how Recovery is amazing. They are both good albums with big flaws. I honestly think Em needs to get outside more and see the world.
